🎶 Elevate Your Tone with EMG H4 – Where Power Meets Soul!
The EMG H4 Passive Electric Guitar Humbucker Pickup in Black merges the robust characteristics of an active 81 with the classic essence of a passive PAF, offering musicians a well-balanced tone with tight bass, glassy mids, and crunchy highs. Engineered with over-wound coils and ceramic bar magnets, this pickup is designed for noise reduction and shines in the bridge position, making it the go-to choice for rock and modern guitar sounds.

The mistake that redeemed itself
One day I was just browsing the emg pickups, and mistakenly ordered this with Amazon's one click buy function. It was something I had wanted for a cheap guitar that I liked to play, but didn't think I needed it then. I was surprised when it showed up 3 days later, after thinking I only looked at it online. While it may have been ordered by mistake, I am glad I decided to keep it. Up until this pickup I had never done any work on a guitars internal workings and was nervous about doing so. But let me tell you, EMG makes installing these extremely easy, especially if you have a guitar with only one pickup.Their solder free installation is so easy and effective. They have diagrams to show the the setups for multiple scenarios. I was able to install the pickup in 30 minutes (would have been less but I had to modify the guitar a little to fit it), and it worked without any problems and made my cheap guitar sound much better. Not to mention I love looks of the emg pickups, and goes well with my all black guitar.I am extremely satisfied with my mistake, and will be buying more EMG pickups in the future.

Great pickup. Almost sounds like an Active EMG
Great tone for metal. Almost sounds like one of the active models. Good for upgrading guitars that don't have a spot for a battery.

Excellent EMG81 passive version with great dynamics
This pickup has warmth, edge, smooth mids, good power, bottom and dynamics like a well made pickup suitable for many genre and not limited to just rock or metal. Reminiscent of the active EMG 81 but with all the great traits of a passive humbucker. Super quiet with classic EMG looks.

Probably the best passive I've used
I bought this for a build and it installed super easy! No soldering whatsoever. I installed for use with only a volume pot, and the directions claimed that I may need to solder in 1 spot for the input jack, but I actually fit it on the input jack without any soldering. That's the best part of these new EMG's, no soldering! I find this to be the best passive EMG pickup before the active series (that's if your into those). It's just heavy dark lows that really rip with heavy distortion. They are relatively cheap too, a great alternative to active.

This is a great pickup for bridge!!!
great pickup, use in bridge.Love it better for distortion than the H4A alnico which has great cleans....like seriously cleans like I have never heard before out of my Mesa Boogie clean chan.Simple install, GET THE GROUND WIRE WELL GROUNDED, used a bit of copper foil for under the bridge when mounting into the wood. Works great!!! highly recommend, not a fan of activate pickups and changing batteries.Have used these in my fender strat (tom delonge edition) as well as my ESP LTD TE-201

Achieving that metal tone I was looking for
Couldn't be happier. I installed on in the bridge of my Ibanez 450DX that I picked up a few months ago. I noticed an immediate improvement towards the tone that I've been trying to achieve. I considered putting an H4A in the neck but realized that I've rarely switch to middle or neck pickups. Perhaps in the future I will. Since I wanted to use my stock switch and 500k pots, I had to solder the wires directly to my switch. It was a little intimidating because a wiring diagram for the 450DX is no where to be found online. I think that in the future, I might just toss a H4A in the neck, switch out to the EMG pots and buy a 3 way switch to tie all together. My center single coil center pup will just be used for aesthetics. If you play metal and wish to switch out your old passive pups then the H4 is definitely worth a try. If you're worried about having enough room for a battery like I was, this passive pickup might be the right choice for you.

EMG Greatness!
I purchased the EMG H4 to put in my Jackson PS4 Performer that I bought in 2001. I never cared for the stock Jackson pickups, and before the EMG I had a Seymour Duncan Invader in the bridge. I can honestly say that this guitar has never sounded as good as it does now. The H4 is a passive pickup and comes with a jack, wiring harnesses, tone and volume knob using EMG's proprietary wiring hook-ups, no soldering necessary. I still need to get the mid and neck pickups along with a switch, but will do that over time. I get an amazing sound from it, and it really does give new life to an old guitar. I love it.

Installed in minutes
Unbelievably easy installation. Only had to soldier the jack and ground wire. The rest of the connections are made simply by plugging in these little clips that hold securely. EMG makes great stuff and this one is a no- brainer. Pickup sounds better than the one that came with the guitar. Good output with a tight midrange, not too heavy bass and the highs cut through. Very satisfied with purchase.
