This brand binder mechanisms work properly, very sturdy metal and do come with the screw type rivets. The description does not mention the rivets, but if you ask the question, they confirm it is the screw type rivets. I purchased a different brand in a different size and even though that brand said screws, the rivets push or snap together and are too long....the binder is wobbly. I will purchase my own rivets to use on this one as I use these quite often in my scrapbooking. So, purchase this brand...excellent product!

Yep... I was depressed about the fact that I couldn't use it with US standard hole punches... I had to get creative... in order to use it... just a heads up for anyone that decides to keep it...
