Worked perfectly for our big block jet boat

LOVE ....LOVE ....LOVE it!! After completely rebuilding and upgrading my Mercruiser V6 4.3 Liter it is the cherry on top! I did a lot of searching and found that a flame arrestor can rob you of UPTO 21HP!!! THAT"S NUTS!!! K&N flame arrestor 0...YES ZERO HP LOST!!! I would have switched to a V8 but a drag racing buddy of mine sold me a perfect 4.3 liter with less than 100k miles from a GM s10 blazer for $200! Cant pass that up when he wanted $3k for a custom built motor. I still did a complete rebuild because a marine cam has 30 more degrees of duration and the lobs are closer together. I also reworked the cylinder heads with a port job and 1.6 roller rockers vs stock 1.5 ratio friction rockers. My Celebrity 181BR should get up and move a little faster now!:) FYI...You will need a vent kit that matched your vent hoses to attach them! Mine were 1/2" so I purchased 2 of the K&N 85-1350 and they worked like a charm as well.

By fit "perfectly" I mean just barely, but it fit. Really nice replacement for the standard aluminum flame arrestor. No engine cover needed. This is a little bit of bling as well as being functional and sturdy.

The air cleaner came in a plastic bag and had dents in the top metal cover. The assembly was very expensive . Stop sending packages in Plastic Bags!

I have always run K&N air filters, my quad, my mud truck, even my work truck has a K&N! It was no surprise to get the same quality for my boat.. This is Coast Guard Approved, looks like a million bucks, and made my 4.3 V6 run 1-2 miles faster on GPS! It even fit under my dog house motor cover with no modifications. I did have to use the 1350 K&N vent kit to finish it off. Get one, you won't be sorry!

I have used K&N Filters for years - only good things to say about their performance. I rate the "item" low because of incorrect components and Amazon's support; not because of K&N performance. I purchased this filter/mount kit (sold as a kit) from Amazon primarily because it wasn't available from any local auto supply stores, or in stock at my local marine supply store. I buy a lot from Amazon, the price was fair, so why not? I wasn't able to install the filter for over 30 days from the time of purchase from Amazon. When I went to install, I found the filter element is too large to fit inside the edges of the mount and cover frames. When I inquired with Amazon, they sent me to K&N since it's beyond 30 days - that was the best Amazon could do. If I were trying to return the item b/c I changed my mind, I would understand them holding fast to this policy. However, when they ship items that don't fit, I think Amazon should honor the integrity of the sale and make the necessary adjustments. Even though K&N may have packaged the wrong items together, Amazon is an authorized dealer and in the service business - they need to support what they sell. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but I don't think so. Lesson learned when buying from Amazon: Don't assume they ship the correct items; and don't expect they'll support you outside of their written policy - even if there are extenuating circumstances, they simply don't care. 9/9/12: Update: Amazon has done the correct thing and allowed me to return this item for full credit; I updated my rating. It is on an inboard 350 omc engine ,it is a good quality air cleaner lots of room around it and it works good
