We assume that youngsters prefer fancy items but they actually prefer items that are simple and when it comes to watches - analog type. So we bought this for our son and he loved it ! It is something he can wear everyday without thinking what would happen if he lost it etc Not to mention it was nice on our budget too.

I really wanted to give this watch 5 stars. Here's what I like and don't like about this specific watch.What I like:1. Very well built. This watch is very sturdy, much more that what you'd expect for a $16 watch. Everything -- the face, strap, buckle -- is strong and well-built.2. Cool design. This is a good-looking watch. The face is just the right size -- not too small, not too big. Minute markers are clearly marked. I like the hour markers (1-24, military format).3. Accurate time: I've had this watch 4 days and it keeps time very, very well.4. Awesome value: For $16, this watch is a bargain. I'd expect this watch to sell for $35 at least.What I don't like:1. Faulty Date Indicator: The date display doesn't advance as designed; i.e., I'm not able to manually advance the date. And yes, I followed the instructions and pulled the crown to the first stop. Date does not advance.2. Only one color? I'm not crazy about the military green. A lot of military gear comes in tan/sand/earth tones. I'd like this watch better if I had more color options.Overall:This watch is good, not great. I like most things about this watch, but if it doesn't function as it's supposed to (the faulty date display), then I'm disappointed.UPDATE May 6, 2020: The seller replaced the faulty watch with a watch that works perfectly. The date indicator was a small quibble, but now this watch is superior all the way around. Cool design, accurate time-keeping, bargain price. The seller's customer service people are outstanding. Thanks for going the extra mile to make this customer happy. Five stars *****.

UPDATED REVIEW:I must give Infantry five stars for customer service. They saw my original review and contacted me and sent a replacement, along with an apology about how sometimes stuff happens after it leaves the factory.The new watch does all the things that a watch should do, so I could have just had one that was beat up on the way to me.It has survived a month of normal usage, including showers and surface swimming without condensation.My original comment about hard to read still applies. My daughter with 20/15 vision thinks it is fine. I suggest taking the picture on this page and shrinking it so it is 40mm wide (that's the dimension of the outside of the round metal frame) to see what it will look like. (I've also determined that 40mm is a bit larger than I like to have on my wrist, although it is typical of mens watches)I find the hands are very narrow and don't always stand out against the other markings. I've also noted that the minute hand is on top of the hour hand, so once an hour it only has one hand visible and it takes a few seconds to process.It doesn't advertise as glow in the dark, and I'm pretty sure there is none.ORIGINAL REVIEW: (was 1 star)hard to read. plus it didn't keep timeMy eyes are not the best, so I spent a day trying to tell what time it was. Beautiful, elegant, casual, sporty, has some weight to it. Just wished the buckle was black as well like the case but overall pretty good.

I've purchased this little nifty field watch a few months ago. For the price I must say I'm pleasantly surprised.First, what we know:- Black dial, white Arabic numbers, white indices, and white hour & minute hand, red second hand, and black nylon/cloth strap.- It's runs on a Japanese Miyota 2115 quartz movement.- Case back appears screwdown but is in-fact a pop-top.- Case diameter: 40mm, w/crown: 43mm- Lug to lug (vertical, top to bottom): 50mm- Lug to lug (horizontal): 22mmWhat makes it above and beyond a regular $24.99 watch:- Second hand lines up perfectly with indices.- Minute hand sets exactly even with indices and continues to line up perfectly with minute indices as watch operates.- Price: $24.99. Most field watches costing $25 or less will get the job done, but often do so sloppily and lacking in many areas.- The Miyota quartz keeps excellent time, gaining roughly 3 secs every month. This could hardly be considered unreliable.What it's lacking:This MDC field watch came so close to being the end all, be all of super reasonably priced field watches. The only area where it could use some improvement:- Lume. Lume is bright after first initial charge, however it quickly fades in less than 10 minutes.So there you have it. Unless you're a lume nerd and aren't happy unless your wrist glows neon green for hours, I believe most will be happy with this easy to obtain, easy on the wallet field watch by MDC.MDC, if you're reading. Take your perfection of the all black field watch and offer it in different colors. Army Green, Field Khaki, White dial w/Blue straps. Add a little color variety and you'll easily earn a commanding grasp on the affordable field watch market.Thanks for reading - Hope this helps those still undecided!
