Quick Customer Service
I have been cooking on a Big Green Egg for over 20 years and decided to pull the trigger on trying a BBQ pit controller. Being a bit frugal, I looked at the offerings on Amazon and selected the Inkbird ISC-007BW based on customer reviews and the reasonable price point. The controller was essentially plug-and-play right out of the box. The instructions were clear and the operation was almost intuitive. I downloaded the appropriate app for the controller and attached the controller to my BGE. My initial use was to be three slabs of pork ribs cooked low and slow.I set the controller for 250 degrees (F), lit the charcoal, and closed the lid. The unit came on and the temperature started to approach the set point. The temp over-ran the set-point by about 10 - 15 degrees. I adjusted accordingly and changed the set-point to 225. All went well for about 2 hours then the controller temperature started “running away” and showed a temperature of over 350 degrees.I checked the dome temperature with an Inkbird thermometer that I have been using for >4 years; it showed a dome temp of 265 degrees.I contacted Inkbird support via email and they were quick to respond. I corresponded with a representative who identified as “Cassie” and was very pleased with their response. Cassie made a few suggestions that I followed (changing the set-point to a bit lower than the desired final temp and calibrating the grid probe. I did both but the problem continued. After reporting the results to Cassie, they sent me a new grid probe. I installed it today and started smoking two sausage, jalapeno, and cheese fatties. I wanted the cook to go at 250 degrees and entered the set-point at 240 to account for the vagaries of my egg. It held the temperature between 250 - 255 degrees for the hour and a half of the cook.I recommend the Inkbird ISC-007BW as a good budget level controller that is easy to use.

Must have for the serious smoker
I purchased this to use on a 22inch Weber Smoky Mountain roughly 1 year ago. At that time there were very few options in the market for smart BBQ controllers, and the options from well known players were generally $600 and up, so I took a chance on this item when it first came out to the market based on a couple dozen reviews that seemed promising. This is my review based on 1 year of ownership and about a dozen brisket cooks. The brackets that come for installing the rubber hose to WSM were a little large for the WSM, but i took a stepped drill bit to the WSM and made one of the vent holes larger and have had no issues. The inkbird app lists varous grills as options such as Weber Kettles, Green Eggs, but for bullet type smokers it only lists the 18" WSM as an option. Even so, the software and the fan output has been a solid success on my 22 inch WSM. It's maintained consistent temp even in 10 degree weather with constsnt 8-10 mph winds with 20 mph wind gusts. The actual fan/control board unit works well. The single push button/rotary knob gets the job done, but the real beauty and ease of use is the wifi connected app. Its much easier to use than the single knob and has really nice graphing and temperature setting controls. And best of all, you can monitor/control your smoker from anywhere, so long as the unit is connected to wifi. Being able to leave the house for work or errands and still having control if your smoker is VERY nice.All-in-all, this inkbird is all you need to turn your basic smoker into a smart smoker and totally transforms your experience from a high monitoring experience to a near automated one.I have no issues keeping whatever temp I desire with this thing. I've not tested constant high temp (for example, asking it to heat the smoker to 500 and holding that temp for long periods). That said, I didn't buy this for that kind of fire management; I bought this for smoking in my BBQ pit.My nit picks would be the following - Connectivity to my home's wifi was a little challenging the very first time i was setting the unit up, but since then has been very fast and consistent. Orientation of the hose is also weird. I wish the inkbird was oriented to where the hose sticks out from the bottom, rather than the top of the fan. This would make it easier to hang it/attach it near the grill. Lastly, it lacks a way to easily hang it or attach it to the grill. You either need to set it on the floor, your grill's side table, or set up a separate table nearby. But for half off compared to other options at the time, this thing rocks!

Support sucks
I have used inkbird products in the past without issue. I bought this device in January of 2024. I used it a handful of times for my Kamado and it worked great. On Thanksgiving I went to use it and it wouldn't work. I contacted support as they say they have a hassle free warranty. My issue isn't so much the device but the support. Support sucked. They kept giving me the runaround asking my questions about how I smoke. I kept explaining I know what I am doing the device is just faulty. they have not been helpful. Inkbird the products aren't bad for the money but if you need support, good luck!

Great controller with a really good app
After using a cyber-q for that past 8 or 9 years, I got sick of having no online functionality (bbq gurus stopped supporting their product - garbage service!!!!). Decided for this price, I'd give inkbird a try. I've only had it a couple days, but did my first smoke on baby back ribs yesterday. They turned out amazing and the controller did its job. The app works great and it's very user friendly. The temp did get a little high (set at 250 but got up into the 280s for a bit), but I had the top vents a little too open. So far, I'm extremely pleased with this purchase.
