So far so good.- value rod
I got mine sept 2020 and am looking to buy more. I hope they did not change quality. Looking at all the 1 star reviews. I took it fishing in california, montana, arizona and belize. Yes the tip is super bendy allowing some fish to set themselves free - pike and bonefish will get off easily. It performs beautifully as long as you don’t try to set the hook like a maniac. Small and big mouth bass, porgy, trout, catfish, bluegill, snapper. Had some snags where I had to yank the lure, hook out of rocks and branches - still works. Aligning the guides takes a while to get used to but gets easier with practice. I also have the blqckhawk which has free floating guides. That is a pain to align. That one has the guides fixed to each segment. It will not replace a fast action or a deep sea fishing rod- you will not be able to catch swordfish with it. But in a pinch, it works. And is fun. Because of the bendy tip you feel uthe fight. I wish kastking would send me some of their products for review. Or at least the missing buttcap - haha I travel a lot. Will be ordering another one and will update here on how it goes. Pros: Portability - can have one in the car all the time Reliable so far Nice feel in hand Light Cons: It takes a little while to get used to casting accurately because of the bendy tip Lost the buttcap No other cons. I enjoy fishing with this rod.

Rod broke after several uses. (Sent a new rod and works great)
Was a decent rod until till it broke on a cast. I wanted to try and get a few more feet on my cast to get my jig a little further so I cast it really hard but when I did, it broke right in the middle. Frustrating because it was a great size and felt really good. Update…..KastKing reached out to me and offered a replacement. The customer service was great and I have to change the review to 5 stars because I received a new rod in the mail and it seems to be solid.

Nice, very light, telescoping pole
This is “medium action” rated but a very light pole. It feels suitable for smaller fish species like perch & bluegill but it feels like the pole could break in the area of the tip with larger fish, like a pike or bass hooked on. There have been many complaints of pole breakage; even just by casting. The pole collapses down to a very short length of 17”. It can be easily packed and transported with a reel mounted. I recommend no more than 6# test line with this pole. The pole doesn’t give much feedback and I wouldn’t haul back and cast too hard and aggressively with it either. The pole’s extended length is 78” or 6’6”. My pole is the casting version and I mounted a small spin-cast reel on it. The pole is good for drop-shot fishing. The minimalist grip isn’t very ergonomic and comfortable holding and casting. I don't think this is not a pole for a serious angler but if you're hiking or camping and want to get a line wet, this pole will fill the need. Comes with a plastic tip guard/cover for collapsed tip protection, storage and transport. The pole is very light, packable, practical, and affordable.

Compact, durable, and very convenient !
Awesome rod! Compacts small enough to take on my hiking trips for those opportunistic fishing streams I find, and it cast smooth. Also great for keeping in the truck in case you find that special honey hole at an old country farm! It’s lightweight but yet very durable and seems like it will last a while.

Great while it lasted...6 months. Kastking won't honor their "lifetime" warranty.
Barely got six months out of it and the tip broke off. And the warranty on this thing sucks. No more KastKing for me. Update 12/15/25: Contacted KastKing again for a replacement rod. Will let everyone know if they take care of me or not. Update 12/19/25: Heard back from KastKing today. They're telling me that my rod only has a 1 year warranty when it clearly states on their website that "KastKing rods are covered by a limited lifetime, total peace of mind warranty against the workmanship and materials of the rod for the original owner." So once again, they are giving me the runaround. But they did offer to give me 10% off my next rod purchase. LOL. Update 12/22/25: Received from Kastking today--> We are sorry, but your rod is beyond repair. Our standard warranty is one year. If you would like to proceed with a warranty claim for the rod, you will need to pay a fee of half of the original purchase price plus a $20 shipping and handling fee. Please let me know if you have any questions. Regards, Winnie ------------------------------ Very sad that a "reputable" company like KastKing will not honor their limited, lifetime warranty. So no more KastKing for me, and I will tell everyone in my circle of fishing buddies, stay away from KastKing if you value a quality product with the highest level of integrity to back it up. Sadly, that's not KastKing.

Lightweight, solid, and fits in tackle box
Just got this a couple of days ago and haven't gone fishing yet cause of the weather. However I did put a reel on it and did some practice casting. I got this for convenience as sometimes I want to grab a rod and couple of lures and not bring all my rods and gear along or when I want an extra rod this one is easy to carry and can put it in the tackle box. It feels solid and the telescoping opens and closes with no issues and is very lightweight.

For the price, it's a great telescopic rod, feels well made. I might replace the reel though, it feels pretty stiff and you do have to put a lot of effort in to closing the bail by reeling which makes me worry for the longevity of that mechanism.
