My Day with Gong Gong: A Powerful Way to Change DNA

Beautiful illustrations and wasn’t expecting the ending which made me cry
Read it with my 6 year old son- we are both trying to learn more about the language and culture. Beautiful illustrations and engaging. I liked that it had the odd nod to Chinese words that I could relate to as well. The ending was overwhelming as my son calls my Dad, GongGong as well and it made me tear up, when I realised what the words meant. Beautiful.

Best relatable Cantonese kids book!
I felt like this was me when I was a kid! Canadian-Chinese kid with her Gong-Gong & Po-Po that was sometimes hard to communicate with. I love that this is in Cantonese and that I can teach a few words to my own kids, because most of the kids books I come across are Mandarin. I’m hoping that Sennah Yee can come out with a book relating to spending time with Po-Po!

Finally a book my toddler can relate to
I'm so glad I came across this book! You don't see many English books with a Chinese representation of grandparents and this one is a real treat to read. My toddler calls my dad "Gong Gong", so he really enjoyed the story. The illustrations are amazing too. Hoping the writer and illustrator come up with more books like these!

Finally a Cantonese storybook!
The cutest Cantonese book I have ever seen! I was literally tearing up reading this as I related to so many of these feelings/scenes when I was hanging out with my dad when I was a kid. I can’t wait for my baby to understand this sweet story and see herself in these cultural situations.

Rare book about Gong Gong's and exactly what we were looking for.
Love it! Wish there was one about Popos!
