and I found this for a great price. I cannot say enough about this little ...
My son loves music. I was looking for a gift for him for his 1st birthday. I had seen this at a toy store for a much higher price, so I came home and looked on Amazon, and I found this for a great price. I cannot say enough about this little piano. It is perfect for little fingers. It can also withstand little hands that my play the keys too hard. When my son first saw this, he couldn't contain his excitement. He loved the bright colors and playing the keys. There are two full octaves on this piano. The sound quality is pretty good, some of the keys can get stuck, but they easily release. This also comes with a little songbook. This will be great to help teach my son to read and play music when he gets older. I know that this is a product that we will be using for many, many years to come. I love Melissa and Doug products. They are well made, and they don't include annoying lights or robotic sounds. I see myself buying another bigger version in the future when my sons balance is good enough to sit on something unassisted. This is perfect size for a sitting infant/toddler. This was a great value and seems to be well worth my money. I highly recommend this product.

Another Melissa & Doug Favorite!
Several months back I purchased this for my Grandson, but accidentally had it shipped to myself. Unfortunately he lives out of state, so it wasn't until he came to visit recently that he was finally able to play with it. His Mom had said that he loves anything musical, so I was confident that he would love this and I was right. So far I haven't found anything that I don't like about the Melissa & Doug Learn-To-Play Piano , so I'll just tell you what I do: ~ Painted bright colors which kids seem to be drawn to. ~ Very well constructed. It should last for many years with normal wear and tear. ~ Suitable for a wide range of ages. My grandson is 18 months now, but I could definitely see him enjoying this up to ages 4-5. ~ Sound is nice and not too loud. I can't say that it is in tune, but this Piano is just a toy after all. ~ Reasonable at the current Amazon price, even though I purchased it for much less through a 3rd Party. In addition I would also highly recommend the Melissa & Doug 60-Piece Standard Unit Blocks for any child that likes to build and stack or the Melissa & Doug Deluxe Wooden Chomp and Clack Alligator Push Toy for little ones learning to walk. As for my grandsons piano it is packed and ready to be taken with us when we travel in December to visit him. After seeing how much he enjoyed it, he definitely deserves to have this at home with him.

After revision, totally worth the money
I had reviewed this toy initially as not being worth the money, but let me tell you, Melissa and Doug delivered! I called them to tell them about the sound that the keys were making and the shaky top, and they were so awesome about it, that they replaced the piano! Their customer service blew me away! I cannot say enough about how friendly and helpful they were. To top it off, the piano came in no time at all, and sounds FANTASTIC! True notes and very sturdy, so much so that baby tries to climb on it now! Thank you, thank you, thank you to Melissa and Doug! Please see below for my initial review. In reading the reviews I thought this would be a good buy, but when I received it and opened it up on Xmas morning, I noticed that the top of the piano is a little shaky and loose. Not only that, but the sounds the piano makes are totally dissonant. This is disappointing because this was his "music Christmas"; I had also gotten him various other musical instruments. This was supposed to be the really special present, but he likes the cheap generic bongos better even than this. I am enormously disappointed by this piano.

Fun for cooperative play
SO fun. I love playing little easy melodies and my toddler loves slamming keys. Piano is slippery and I have to warn her not to climb it. Maybe 1 or 2 high keys stick slightly and 1 key tad sharp. Overall one of my favorites from Xmas.

Not good quality at all.
I've just recently started purchasing Melissa and Doug products. (My son tends to be a bit rough on his toys so I mostly opt for the cheaper, less costly to replace options). Some of their products, like their puzzles and the kids table, are sturdy and well made so I was expecting this piano to be of the same quality, boy was I wrong. This things is, I'm sorry to say, junk. It sounds horrible, nothing like a real piano. Pretty much exactly like a xylophone. Most of the keys stay depressed unless you pull them back up with a finger. The keys also wobble quite a bit. After my kids played with it for less than 5 minutes I decided this wasn't at all what I wanted for them so I picked it up to put away until I could return it. As I set it down, I noticed the upper left screw in the back was about 3/4 of the way out already. I pushed it back in with very little forced which isn't really a good thing. All in all, I would have given it two stars if the age recommendation would have been for 6+ months since all this thing is good for is a baby to bang on but since it says it's for 3+ ( which was another factor when I bought it since my son will be 3 in two months) I cannot justify giving this product anything higher than one star. I hate writing bad reviews however I feel the consumer should be aware of what they are getting. With that being said, if you are looking for a little piano that sounds slightly better than the musical plastic ones, and something to teach your child how to position their hands to play a real piano and nothing more than this might work for you. On the other hand, if you are looking fora study product and something that will actually teach your child the sound of notes this is absolutely not it.

Heavy, teaches children piano basics.
Love this piano! It works well to help teach children to play. It's very sturdy, so I do have to watch that my kids don't topple it over onto their toes.

3 keys broken upon delivery
We purchased this cute little acoustic toddler piano for my grandson for a Christmas gift. I had read mixed reviews about this piano, but decided to take a chance. Unfortunately after opening it and tapping gently on the keys, we could hear that a few keys were not working correctly/broken (?). The package came very nicely boxed with lots of protection, so I can only conclude that it was either defective from the start, or became that way from being shipped. When I picked up the box to bring it in the house, after being delivered, you can hear the keys moving around very easily. It is my my opinion that whatever the keys are held in place with are defective. our grandson is only 1 year and not hard on his toys, but I have read reviews that said that their toddler banging on the keys broke them. Even though this is not our case, they should be able to withstand toddlers tapping on the keys, even if it is not so gentle. Toys are not made like they used to be. We had a little piano like this for my daughter when she was a toddler many years ago, and she banged on that frequently – – and the keys never stopped working. The little piano frame itself looks beautiful – – looks very well-made and sturdy, but unfortunately, when it comes to the mechanism of the keys , which is the main part, it’s just not worth the money. I had hoped for an acoustic piano rather than a digital one— but I’m afraid to purchase a replacement and have the same thing happen. My grandson loves this toy— even with broken keys. I hope Melissa and Doug can make sure there is better quality control on products or fix the product flaw if that’s what it is.
