Not ideal for iPhone 8+
I am a devoted Otterbox fan, and have been using them religiously since the iPhone 4S. The only time I have ever broken a screen was when I was waiting for my Otterbox to arrive after the release of the iPhone 6+. I drop my phone A LOT, so the fact that my phone has never broken with an Otterbox on it says a ton about its level or protection.I have used both the Defender and the Commuter. I do not like the screen protector on the Defender, and I do not need a belt clip, so the Commuter works best for me. I also like that it is easier to slide into my pocket, as a good portion of the exposed case is hard shell instead of rubber. After pre-ordering the iPhone 8+, I immediately went on the hunt for an Otterbox to protect it. Much to my surprise, it was advertised that this case fit the 7+, and 8+, so I ordered it. A few days ago, my new phone arrived. I pulled out the glass screen protector and this case before even turning on the phone for the first time. I had this same setup on my iPhone 6+--a glass screen protector and the Otterbox Commuter.Impressions:-This case is most definitely not designed for the iPhone 8+. This is clearly evident by the fact that the Apple logo is not centered within the window on the back of the case. (See pic.)-This case does not work as well with a glass screen protector as the iPhone 6+ version. When I tried putting the hard shell on, the rubber of the case kept getting up under the screen protector and forcing it up. Now I have imperfections under the screen protector. I never had this issue with the several screen protectors I used on the 6+. There isn't as much of a rubber lip on this as there was on the 6+. I looked it up, and the iPhone 8+ is a hair larger than the iPhone 7+. This small bit of difference is probably what is affecting the amount of overlap of the rubber.-The rubber around the front does not rise up as high. above the screen. Time will tell, but I feel it will take less to damage the screen, as there is less protection. (See pic.)-The rubber is much softer than the 6+ version. I do not know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but I worry it will get damaged more easily.-Color is accurate to the picture on Amazon (Blazer Blue.)Overall, time will tell whether or not this offers the same protection as the Commuter for the iPhone 6+. I was incredibly happy with that case. This one feels a bit like you are squeezing into a pair of jeans that are a quarter size too small. It doesn't feel quite right, but still goes on.

These are junk, nothing like my last 2 Otterbox cases!!
Crap! I have used Otterbox for over 8 years now. Starting with my iphone 3g, 5s, and now 7plus. It has never failed me, always outlasting the phone itself! However this case is an exception. I have had it for just over 45 days, past the 30 day return window. Its is completely cracked and worthless now. Sadly this was probably the most expensive case i have purchased, and I am very disappointed that Otterboxs quality has deteriorated so badly! Because this one was so poorly made, and cracked under normal usage (i did not drop it or in anyway beat my phone or case up), I do not think I will be purchasing another Otterbox again. Apparently its time to check out Lifeproof or something else. As Otterbox just isn't the quality type case it used to be.

broken screen after a short drop
I've been an Otter user for years, primarily with their Defender series. The Defender had protected various iPhones over the years on mountain climbing expeditions around the world. I once dropped my phone on a rocky trail in the Andes only to have it slide down the mountain about 500 feet where it was subsequently stepped on by a mule on the trail behind me. It was no worse for the wear.No enter the Commuter series. I'd recently got the iPhone 8 and wanted to protect it. But the 8 was so darned large, I opted to go with the Commuter case reasoning I could always buy a Defender case later if I was heading back up in to the mountains. This was clearly not a good plan. Just yesterday, with my iPhone 8 just a couple of weeks old, I stepped out of my car while simultaneously trying to extract my phone from my pocket. It slipped and dropped to the asphalt. I mumbled a curse as I fumbled to grab it, but I wasn't overly worried as I saw it land on the corner of the case (NOT screen down, mind you), and come to a rest on its back. When I looked down at my phone, I saw what looked to be water on the corner of the screen. Closer examination showed it to be a spiderweb crack, right at the corner where it impacted. Now maybe this isn't fair to give the Commuter a one star rating. Maybe the 8 just has a really fragile screen? All I know is that I've owned about 4 iPhones over the past 7 or 8 years, all of them enclosed in an Otter case. I've dropped all of them and otherwise abused them at one time or another. I've even broke an Otter case a couple of times, but I've never once broken a screen. Until now. Once I figure out how to get the screen replaced, I'll definitely be stepping back up to the Defender series.

Beware commuter case - My whole back of the phone cracked while "protected."
I love otterbox. I use it for every phone I buy and recommend it for anyone I meet who looks like they need a better case.Sadly, this was the first communter I bought for my new Iphone 8.I usually buy a defender.A week ago, my phone fell from the doctor's examining table on its back (covered by the case) onto the floor. All was well until I looked later and noticed a small crack on the apple logo.Sadly, after removing the case, I saw the whole back of my new phone was cracked!I cannot believe this could happen with an otterbox.I called them and they are sending out a defender, but they do not repair the phone.I will never buy another commuter series or anything less than the Defender.

Great Protection!!!
Excellent phone case! I used to always purchase Lifeproof cases for my iPhones and would hate how they would interfere with the speaker and mic to my phone. The quality of Lifeproof for protection is absolutely amazing but the sound quality is horrible. I finally decided to try a different brand...which is hard for me to do since I like to be a loyal customer but am so glad I took the leap! This case has protected my phone from many drops and throws (I have a baby who loves to pick it up and throw it) and still provides great (not excellent) sound quality. I don't think you'll be able to find a case that provides protection without reducing at least a little bit of the sound quality (if you did for an iPhone then comment to let me know).

Great case for IPhone X. Very durable and nice in touch.

Good sturdy case
Overall a good case that appears to offer good protection, especially around the edges of the screen. My only negative is that the back has no grip or rubber making it liable to slide off smooth surfaces.

Slightly too tight for iPhone 8+ and the inner gel becomes discoloured with minimal use
Bought this on November 23 on a rushed 1 day shipping for a loved one. Since then, the colour of the soft inner layer has worn off. It went from pink to a bluish tint (refer to images). Furthermore, just like others have said this product was originally made for the iPhone 7 plus which is slightly smaller. The dimensions are slightly too tight for the iPhone 8 plus frame although it DOES fit. The logo is off-centered as well.iPhone 7 plus: 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3 mmiPhone 8 plus: 158.4 x 78.1 x 7.5 mmIf you are going to buy this, try to get it in black. Hopefully the discolouration and the off-centered logo won't bother you.
