Makes you think about life and mental disorders
Being an Indian myself, I was not aware of the pain and suffering someone with a complex mental illness like Bipolar, suffers from. The author clearly makes an attempt to explain the trauma the protagonist goes through in vivid detail and so, it becomes hard for the reader to not empathize with her. The book is about Ankita Sharma, who on the surface seems to have her life figured out with doting friends and good parents but all that glitters in fact is not gold as she ends up experiencing the worst effects of her bipolar disorder. The rest of the book is about how she manages to find her saving grace in a mental facility and how through sheer resilience and persistence, she manages to fight the demons in her head. Written in simple tone, the author manages to keep you engaged through the book.Cautionary note to the reader: Please read through the book as it may leave you feeling sad or depressed if you leave it midway through her struggles. There is indeed light at the end of the tunnel.

A Lifeline For Many
I say it so often, “Life is what you make it.” This book is a lifeline, literally, for people experiencing deep despair. But it is also useful for others, who are just disgruntled or dissatisfied. It needs work on every level to make your life, such a precious one-time gift, the best it can be. Hard work will bring total satisfaction. An excellent book, that I highly recommend.

Narrative excellence
nicely narrated & quite gripping...but somewhere I felt the plot was missed in the middle. I thought that it was a story of grit & determination to overcome one's fears, but it turned out to be more of a medical help & from the people surrounding the protagonist that helped her to recover from her ordeal

A must read book
Book:- Life Is What You Make ItWriter:- @preeti.shenoyGenre: FictionPages: 209Language: EnglishPublished by: Srishti PublicationsLife is What You Make It by Preeti Shenoy is an exquisite work of fiction. The writer has done a great work in making us all aware about the taboo subject “Mental Illness” which is not even accepted as an illness in our country India. The book is an incredible journey of a young, charismatic girl Ankita who is chasing her and her parents dream to be someone in life. She is a bright student with high hopes and determination to achieve good name for herself and parents. She further enters College to fulfill her goals but found herself in a complicated love triangle. And that’s the time, the seed of her troubles were sown. She did not realise the importance of such adolescent relationship until she lost the one loved. That alone was enough to drive anyone to the pits of sorrows and emptiness. However, Ankita was not quitter, she pushed herself to the extent and by the time herself, or her parents could have noticed the problem, it was too late. And because of the unfortunate events, she fell into the abyss of darkness.

A beautiful, inspiring, well written book.
I couldn't put this book down. A story of a very bright girl who suffered from Bipolar. Her courage to get through it was unbelievable. Mental health is a taboo subject all around the world, more so in India but Preeti explored this beautifully. There were tears but mostly there was hope! Credit to the author.

Great subject matter
4 stars for tackling subject in Indian society where it is still a taboo. For the most part it is done well. That said, i didn't find it an enjoyable book to read especially in the middle when it became very turgid and I thought the author had hit a tunnel but was determined to keep going. I also kept going because I am interested in the subject matter and I wanted to know what happens to the protagonist. Some parts of the book didn't feel authentic but given the subject i guess it would be hard to be completely authentic. I think what it lacked was a sense of humour. Other authors do that well even when tackling difficult subjects.
