Wow, this knife actually surprised me—in a great way. The first thing to mention is that the blade is wicked sharp right out of the box. By that I mean it’s actually sharper than hair-shaving sharp! And so is its point! So consider yourself warned, and handle it carefully as you become familiar with it. And I know this next thing I’m going to say is old news to experienced knife users, but, b/c of how super easily the open/close button works, you need to consciously think about keeping your fingers out of the way of that blade BOTH WHEN DEPLOYING IT AND CLOSING IT. Believe me, you’ll know what I mean when you first open the blade by depressing the button. The blade does lock whenever opened or closed, but when the blade is swinging free, there is NO mechanism in place to help it safely slow down (especially when closing it). My last point is that the maker specifically refers to it as an “adult” knife, and it’s certainly not a kid’s knife or even a young teenager’s knife. And I think we’d all do well to heed their advice. But if you learn to use this knife well and safely, it should be a great and useful knife. Now they don’t say what the scales are specifically made of, but I like them for their durability and texture. The knife feels very secure and comfortable in the hand. They don’t tell us exactly what the blade is made of either, other than “premium stainless steel.” That could mean a lot of things but I do like the hefty and thick blade. And it obviously sharpens EXTREMELY well. Moreover, for a mid-range knife its fit and finish is very nice, on a par with a more expensive knife. Finally, I also like its very stout and reversible belt clip. I usually take them off, either b/c they’re too short or not tight enough. But this belt clip is neither of those two things. I know this is called a Lineman’s knife, but it can also be used as an all-purpose knife, and even for a very good woodworker’s knife—the latter of which I’m using it for, especially to score lines (along with a metal straight edge) as well as to create what’s called a “wall,” a deep cut in which your hand saw can follow along the resulting wall and make a very straight and crisp cut. All in all, I recommend this well-made knife, but it is my hope that the knife owner be an adult—although I can see exceptions being made for “older” teenagers who truly have extensive experience with knives, b/c I know there are many of such experienced teenagers. In any event, the knife will last a lifetime if treated properly, and it will certainly be fun and useful to deploy once you have gotten used to its idiosyncrasies. And to say it’s a great value is a great understatement! So enjoy!

The blade is ridiculously sharp from the factory, as is the tip. I love the opening mechanism and it works great. I’ve had four and my only gripe about them is I keep losing them. But that’s on me. Great product

After I revived this knife in the mail I had to try it out. I wanted to see if it was sharp enough to cut through a whole roll of electrical tape. Oh it was sharp enough, even sharp enough to slice my flesh open. Wear work gloves moral of the story great knife.

super sharp! the button is a bit inconvenient and you have to be careful. my fiancé did cut himself but he learned his lesson lol. he really likes it though.

Super sharp, manages to keep edge without dulling too quickly. Excellent for stripping wire.

Great knife and helps clean wire fast. The button is inconvenient being where you need to hold it and the screws to the clip popped off after a few uses. Have to keep it in pocket so takes longer to get to now.
