Fun away from Phones!
Purchase several different pocket puzzles for sons and nephews aged 13-19. These were all a hit. This puzzle has a nice weight, metal, durable, and keeps the teens occupied and focused on solving. This particular puzzle seemed to have a difficulty level perfect for the older teens. As with the other puzzles this is a handheld sized puzzle, easy to carry around. Great as a gift.

great little puzzle, interesting to solve
Nice design, as always, solid, heavy cast puzzle from Hanayama. Challenging, fun, frustrating, amusing. Makes a great fidget. Family vacation tested ages 9 - 80. Some solved, some didn't. Especially interesting how challenging it can be to get back together, even after having done it. (I think once mastered, it will remain relatively easy, but time will tell.)____Update:Once truly mastered, easy to take apart and put back together quickly. Admittedly found helpful videos online, wanting to be able to put it back together quickly so more children can use it. [Would be VERY hard to put back together, I think, if you had never taken it apart.]A number of students have now taken it apart. Many more have not, YET. Not sure if any have fully put it back together, yet. [Definitely harder to put back together than take apart. Can get it apart without realizing what was done. Typically is 1st time.]Puzzle is starting to show some wear in the finish. Does not at all impact puzzle movment nor solution. One of my favorites.

By far my favorite puzzle. I am new to puzzles
By far my favorite puzzle. I am new to puzzles, and found this puzzle challenging (but not frustratingly so). The timeline for my experience with this puzzle is below:- It took me ~1.5 hours to solve. When I took it apart, I had no idea how I did it- It took me 3 hours to figure out how to put it back- Spent another 2 hours taking it apart and putting it back together a couple of times. At this point, I found out "the trick"Despite knowing "the trick" to this puzzle, it is still my favorite and has a welcome spot on my desk. I often take it apart and put it back to together (~5 seconds now) just for fun. The action of the puzzle is memorizing to me and despite taking it apart hundreds of times now, it still provides me with satisfaction and a mild sense of accomplishment.Prior to this purchase, I was unfamiliar with the Hanayama brand but have been pleasantly surprised through my experience with Marble. The toy is aesthetically pleasing to view and heavy and smooth in the hands. It is the type of toy I am not afraid to showcase in my office. My only complaint is that this toy is smaller than I originally anticipated it to be (please see pictures below for reference). I would have paid double the price to have an exact replica of this puzzle, but double the size.*Of note, despite some of the other review comments, this puzzle does not act as a fidget spinner. While it does have a ball in the center of the puzzle, it does not act as a bearing (like a fidget spinner). It does rotate, but despite my best efforts, cannot do a full revolution on a single spin.

Challenging but fun
We took the puzzle apart in 15 minutes, putting it back together is another challenge. Really love that it gives us a break from screen time and brings everyone together to come up with a solution. Great value

Another great looking and fun puzzle from Hanayama
The Cylinder puzzle from Hanayama keeps up with the high quality and aesthetics of other Hanayama puzzles. I won't give away any specific details about the solution, but I will say that it is quite possible to stumble upon the disassembly accidentally or by trial and error, without really understanding the mechanism behind it. That's probably why the puzzle is rated at a difficulty of 4 out of 6, and mainly why my review is rated 4 out of 5. That said, it's one of the better looking of all the Hanayama puzzles in my opinion, and invites people to pick it up and start messing with it. Even after disassembling, it still has some value in figuring out precisely how it works and learning how to work it reliably without any guesswork.I would recommend this puzzle if you're interested in puzzles with unseen mechanisms that have a reasonable difficulty, yet are much more accessible than the hardest puzzles in the Hanayama lineup.

Still haven’t solved
These puzzles are great. This one has thrown me for a loop and I can’t figure it out. Not giving up but if you want a challenge this one might be it. Recommend these to any family member that likes a challenge.

My favorite hanayama puzzle yet
This has been my favorite puzzle yet. I own quite a few hanayama puzzles and have loved them all (despite wanting to throw some of them at the wall out of frustration), but this one takes the cake. Despite what others have said, it’s not all luck. With some attention to detail, you can figure out how it works and solve it. However, it’s not for beginners. It’s quite meticulous and precise, and it took me about an hour of continual effort to crack it. So I would say the rating is true, it’s a 4 out of 6. It’s well constructed, has a good weight to it, and is just a lot of fun and satisfying to solve. 10/10 recommend this puzzle.
