Excellent SPF Moisturizer
I've been using the Brickell Men's Element Defense SPF45 Moisturizer, and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. As someone who spends a lot of time outdoors, I needed a product that not only provides effective sun protection but also hydrates my skin, and this does both remarkably well. **Pros:** - **Effective Sun Protection:** With SPF 45, it offers solid protection against UVA and UVB rays, which is essential for preventing sun damage. - **Non-Greasy Formula:** Unlike other sunscreens I've tried, this one absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy residue. It feels lightweight on my skin. - **Natural Ingredients:** I love that it's made with natural and organic ingredients, including zinc oxide for mineral sun protection. It's reassuring to know I'm not putting harsh chemicals on my skin. - **Unscented:** The fact that it's unscented is a big plus for me. I prefer skincare products that don’t have strong fragrances, and this one is perfect in that regard. - **Hydrating:** My skin feels well-moisturized throughout the day, without any dryness or irritation. **Cons:** - **Price:** While it's a bit on the pricier side, the quality justifies the cost. You’re paying for a premium product that delivers what it promises. Overall, I highly recommend this moisturizer to anyone looking for a high-quality, effective, and natural SPF moisturizer. It's perfect for daily use and has quickly become a staple in my skincare routine.

High quality ingredients, great daily moisturizer and strong SPF. Dries without mineral residue.
Very high quality daily moisturizer with a strong SPF. I shave my head daily and use this on my face and head to moisturize and protect from the sun. Very nice texture. It has high quality ingredients so feel good about daily use. Even though it is mineral it dries without any white residue for a perfect look.

Detailed review. Good product. Most will see this as sunscreen.
SUMMATION: A fast-absorbing moisturizer which exceeds recommended minimum SPF content, from a reputable company. Decent absorption speed, product may be seen as “runny” when used. Minimal noticeable odor. Most people would see this as “sunscreen” first and foremost but could certainly be used as a daily moisturizer if desired. DETAILED: Delivery and Tracking: As expected. Shipping Packaging: As expected. Product Packaging: Meets or exceeds Amazon’s “Compact by Design” certification. White lettering with sleek black matte finish and texture makes for clear reading and easier gripping. The tube itself is not difficult to squeeze to dispense product. Cap is easily opened, but not so much that there is risk of accidental leakage/spilling if properly secured. Users may experience some spillage into the cap if the top isn’t wiped clean after usage. Product Overview: To be sure, this is more a “sunscreen” in the classic sense. It can be used as a moisturizer as well but should be approached as a sunblock. The size of the tube, look and feel of the product itself along with the SPF and description of how many applications to expect are more in line with a day at the beach/golf course than a day-to-day face moisturizer/sunblock. Vegan and cruelty free are certainly a plus. Look and Feel: The product itself is as expected, not greasy or oily however the tradeoff is that the consistency is a little more on the “runny” side. I did not personally find this to be an issue. Because this is first and foremost a sunscreen, users should expect a light “sunscreen odor”. This mostly faded for me after a few minutes. No other noticeable odors. Application and Absorption: I am using this primarily as a facial moisturizer/protectant. The consistency of the product made application easy and uniform with minimal effort. Initially there was some “whitish haziness” which faded quickly with some very light rubbing. While absorption is not “complete and total,” in about 1-2 minutes it was barely noticeable other than a light “shine” and a lingering faint odor of sunscreen. 30-60 minutes later this remained mostly unchanged. The SPF for this product is 45 and while higher than many other facial-only products (SPF20) it should be noted the American Academy of Dermatology recommends an SPF of at least 30. One criticism would be that when combined with water or perspiration, the area applied does become noticeably slick. In my opinion, it does not differ from any other product similar to this one and is in line with expectations of other “light/non-greasy” products. It should be noted that the product is billed as “water resistant” not “waterproof.” Overall, the combination of the ingredients including Zinc Oxide, Aloe Vera, Green Tea and Sunflower oil along with the quantity for the price paired with the environmental consciousness and Brickell reputation makes this a high recommendation for those looking for a higher SPF moisturizer. Recommended. **UPDATE** Four days later, now that I have gotten used to the product itself, I personally think it’s great and use small amounts with another oil-free moisturizer. The mild “sunscreen odor” for me dissipates (or I have learned to ignore it) pretty quickly and with the idea that “less is more” when applying to the face, the product absorbs and blends in pretty quickly as well. Again, most will see this as “sunscreen” not a facial/body moisturizer.

Quality men's sunscreen product with SPF45 protection
I window shopped many of the men's sunscreen products that are available on Amazon and finally decided on this one because it checked all of my boxes for what I was looking for in a sunscreen product. The first plus for me was that this product is made in the USA by Brickell, a respected maker of men's grooming products. The product is advertised as a moisturizer/SPF45 sunscreen that can be used on both face and body. SPF45 provides very good protection against the sun's rays. On application, the lotion didn't feel greasy, and it absorbed quickly. I did notice a faint shine to my skin until the lotion was fully absorbed. Its moisturizing effect doesn't feel as hydrating as something like Dove's Men+Care hydra cream. I took special note that there was a long expiration date on the sunscreen. Finally, I have to say something about the price to value of the product. Yes, $25 is pricey for a sunscreen but with this product 1) You are getting a quality sunscreen formulated by a well-known men's grooming products company and it's made in the USA, 2) You are getting 8 oz of an SPF45 sunscreen as opposed to other sunscreens that offer lower SPF protections and give you less than 2oz of product. Finding this Brickell sunscreen lotion turned out to be a welcome surprise for me. Update summer 2024: I used this sunscreen last summer and while I like the superior sun protection it offers; I have to remove a star from my original review. I find the lotion to be too runny coming out of the tube and even after the lotion is absorbed it feels noticeably sticky on my skin. Also, while it's neutral scent won't conflict with the scent of a cologne, and that should be considered an advantage in that respect, this summer I will look for a sunscreen that smells more like Banana boat.

Great Moisturizer To Start Your Day With...Especially If Outdoors!
I'm a loyal Brickell fan and sometimes I struggle with what products to use and when. The brand has such a great lineup that sometimes I feel like I'm not quite sure what to use today or try next. Well, once summer rolled around, and having not done very well with this the past few summers, I knew I needed to find a daily moisturizer that included SPF, especially for those days I'm planning on being outside for a good bit of the day. Enter this daily moisturizer with SPF 45. I've historically shied away from higher end SPF containing products simply because of the greasiness and feel of them on my face. They've historically been quick to "melt", especially as the SPF protection inches higher. Well, I found the solution in this daily moisturizer from Brickell. Just like the bottle states, all you need is a nickel to maybe a quarter (for us bigger guys) size of product. It applies smoothly and does not become gummy or sticky. It also absorbs quickly and does not leave your face oily which is a HUGE plus! I like that it is not thick and still leaves your face feeling smooth. The smell isn't terrible either, which is a plus of any SPF containing product, as the smell seems to always been a "necessary evil". This bottle from Brickell is also a really nice sized bottle so this supply will last me a long time so it is definitely worth the money. Combine this as your "finishing step" in your morning routine, after your anti-aging products, etc., and you'll be set for a good 8 hours (their words, on the bottle no less) with solid sun protection from Brickell!

Finally, the Perfect Facial Sunscreen: My Experience with Brickell's SPF45
After years of searching for the perfect face sunscreen and trying numerous brands, I finally found a product that meets all my needs with Brickell’s SPF45 Sunscreen. Finding a good face sunscreen has always been a challenge. I went from one product to another without satisfaction until I discovered Sun Bum. While Sun Bum provided decent protection, it wasn’t suitable for daily moisturizing. Recently, I took a week-long trip to Florida, and being fair-skinned from Michigan, I knew I needed reliable protection to avoid getting sunburned in the intense Florida sun. Brickell’s SPF45 Sunscreen stood out right away. Unlike many other sunscreens that are greasy and irritate my eyes, this one is light and non-greasy, making it perfect for daily use. It hydrates and moisturizes my skin without leaving any white residue, and it doesn’t clog my pores. The protection it offers against UVA/UVB rays is outstanding, and the low shine finish keeps my skin looking natural. What I appreciate most about this sunscreen is its natural ingredients, like zinc oxide, sunflower oil, and green tea. These components not only protect but also improve my skin’s health. I’m committed to avoiding harsh chemicals and parabens in my grooming products, and Brickell delivers on this front. During my trip, I didn’t experience any sunburn or discomfort, even under the intense Florida sun. This sunscreen has become my go-to daily moisturizer, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. It provides the perfect blend of protection, hydration, and care for my skin. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a reliable and healthy facial sunscreen.

Natural and effective sunscreen, without stickiness, excessive shine, and unpleasant odors.
Having incorporated Brickell's skincare products into my routine for the past 7 months, exploring various items in their lineup, I can confidently say that my current regimen, including their AM and PM moisturizers, cleanser, eye cream, and eye serum, has been a positive experience. However, recognizing the importance of effective sun protection in a comprehensive skincare routine, I decided to integrate the Element Defense Moisturizer with SPF 45. Typically, I'm not diligent about sunscreen unless I expect prolonged sun exposure. Previous encounters with sunscreens, characterized by chemical odors, excessive shine, and stickiness, have made me cautious. Brickell's Element Defense Moisturizer addresses these concerns. Firstly, it lives up to its claim of being virtually scentless. The smooth, almost watery texture makes application easy, leaving a subtle sheen for a healthy glow without any sticky residue—an aspect I truly appreciate. What sets this product apart is its dual functionality as both an SPF 45 sunscreen and a moisturizer. While I haven't tested its sun protection due to the winter season in the Midwest, the use of zinc oxide, a proven safe and effective sunscreen ingredient, aligns with coral reef safety. However, it's crucial to note the presence of octocrylene and octisalate, which, while safe for humans, raise concerns about their impact on aquatic life. Despite being water-resistant for up to 80 minutes, this product may not be the best choice for those prioritizing the protection of aquatic ecosystems during water activities. If swimming in lakes or the ocean is a concern, exploring alternative options is advisable. While the product offers moisturizing effects, I wouldn't recommend it as a standalone moisturizer in your skincare routine. Octocrylene, while having emollient properties, is not as potent as dedicated moisturizer products. Nevertheless, the dual benefit of moisturization and SPF protection is a notable advantage. The product claims to be suitable for both face and body use. While I've applied it to my face without adverse effects, I prefer using a product specifically designed for facial application. Brickell does offer a facial sunscreen, which I may explore in the future. As a body sunscreen, it perfectly suits my needs, especially when applied to my bald head. It neither leaves a sticky residue nor interferes with the minimal hair on my head, making it an ideal solution for sun protection in that area. In conclusion, Brickell's Element Defense Moisturizer is a product I recommend. It serves as a natural and effective body sunscreen, addressing common issues of stickiness, excessive shine, and unpleasant odors.

Great Daily Moisturizer and Sun protection
I’m a-older Man , and this Brickell SPF 45 moisturizer has been a great find. It goes on easy, doesn’t feel greasy, and actually keeps my face from drying out or getting cooked by the sun. I work outside a fair amount, so good protection matters, and this stuff really holds up. After using it for a while, my skin just looks better — healthier, smoother, not as rough or tired-looking. I like that it’s natural and uses zinc oxide instead of a bunch of chemicals. Feels clean and solid, not fancy or fake. If you’re an older fella who wants something simple that works and keeps your skin in good shape, this is a great product.
