Really good book
I've bought a lot of photo books by many of the "greats" and been a tad underwhelmed by most of them. This book, however, exceeded my expectations. There are some really great pic in this book. Well worth getting.

Love it.
Love this book. Not much to add to other positive reviews. The little quotes beneath some of the photos bring them to life beautifully. Not usually a fan of street portrait photography ( especially if the subject is aware of the photographer) but some of the characters photographed in this book are amazing.

Faith in Humanity Restored - The Book
This made a fantastic gift for a friend as its a book that requires a minimal amount of commitment. You can simply pick it up, open it at any page and have a bit of a flick through... though you may then find yourself still stood by your bookshelf 2 hours later wondering what just happened. Its a beautifully simple concept, cataloging the stories of the inhabitants of one of the worlds most vibrant cities. It will leave you with a warm sense of appreciation for the perfection to be found in imperfection.

My favourite book - a must buy
I absolutely LOVE this book and so does all of my family, from my little brother to my grandparents. Some really inspiring and fascinating photos that make you feel great about the world. I have followed HONY on facebook for several months and I was not disappointed with this book. I have looked through it many times but I still pick it up often. Would make the perfect gift to just about anyone.

Beautifully put together
LOVE this book, ordered it as soon as I discovered the website. So many touching stories that constantly put your life in perspective, make you laugh, make you sad, or make you hopeful. Beautiful photography, DEFINITELY worth the price, I almost feel like it's TOO cheap for this quality of work. An absolute must, the whole family enjoys flipping through it, a wonderful portrait of humanity.

Vibrant Collection of Images - more stories needed
Lovely collection of vibrant photographs. It's enjoyable to dip in and out of the book to see the images in random order. I just wish that each photograph had come with it's own unique story, only some of the images have stories and others just a quick "Seen in..." comment which is a shame as I bought it for the enriching stories of the people in the photos. This does not ruin the book at all but it was a bit of a disappointment for me - otherwise it makes for a good "coffee table" book of a different size.

Awesome book
I love street photography and this is just that but at it's best. It's also one of the most inspiring books I have seen for a very long time. Brandon breaks every rule in the book when it comes to taking the photos (no thought to depth of field and certainly none whatsoever to the rules of thirds) but it really doesn't matter. This is more than just a book of photographs. Each one has it's own story and it's that, that makes it brilliant. I've followed 'Humans Of New York' on Facebook for ages and now that I have this book, it's like a 'Best Of'. At the end of the day, buy it.... You'll love it!

Superb, a wonderful companion to 'Crossing Paths'
Having followed Niall McDiarmid's amazing Crossing Paths project (search it out and buy his book today!) I was apprehensive about this one but shouldn't have been, it's wonderful. Each photo tells a story before you've read the snippet of text that goes with each. Happy to sad, funny to serious, life is all here. I smiled all the way through and read it in one sitting. Majestic stuff.

bellissimo, pregno di storie e immagini, bello sia da sfogliare la sera che da finire tutto d'un fiato! Fa la sua porca figura anche da tenere nella propria libreria e attira sempre l'attenzione degli ospiti

This review applies to all the HONY books, especially the one entitled "Humans": A perspective check on all our lives, especially on your own hardships. Definitive evidence of our common humanity across borders and identities. An important exercise in empathy and humility. A global treasure. Your life will be poorer without these books, but enriched by having it. You know what to do now - go and get a copy of all of them as soon as possible and support Brandon's important work chronicling lives, loves and losses <3

Incredibly touching and interesting. I’ve been following the HONY page for years but the book format and snapshots take the experience to another level. Highly recommend as a gift as well.

This book arrived this week, and today I sat down and went through the whole thing, from cover to cover. It's a wonderful book. Great photography, and the captions make windows into someone's world. Sometimes heart-felt and touching, sometimes laugh-out-loud funny, often bringing a smile or a chuckle or a nod. When I closed the book and came back to reality, I felt like I'd been on a vacation. This book is a gem. At times, I wished for more information or a longer story or interview. But most of the time, what's here is just enough. Often, the images speak for themselves and nothing further needs to be added. I've been following HONY on Facebook for a while, and ordered the book the day it was published. I'm very glad I did. Brandon Stanton and St. Martin's Press have given us all a gift by creating this book! I just wish I had lots of people I could give it to!
