I dont remember the ad exactly but I did purchase two resonators for my application.

Q: Does this resonator reduce the loudness? by how much?

It does, but more importantly it reduces rasp and makes the overall tone deeper, and deeper tones are don't seem as loud as higher pitched ones. How much all depends on the engine and how the exhaust is set up.

Q: Are the inlet and outlet slip fit “couplings”?

These are not slip fit. They are made with stainless steel and should be installed and welded by a professional muffler shop.
