Got this as a BluRay reader to allow me to rip my collection. The old BluRays are In the garage and I can watch them on demand. Added it to a Ryzen 5600g. Coupled with mkv ripping software and you can rip at speed. I then decided to turn the 26gb mkv into mp4 ac3 5.1 - this plays on my Panasonic TV and via many devices on a Twonky server. Vlc can understand all formats but the hardware doesn't like DTS - it assumes tou are watching pirated movies. Nope - I am just saving myself having to find the darned BluRays that I bought.Really decent drive.

Brilliant unit works extremely well

I purchased this unit to play Blue ray disks. However, windows and VLC (the media player I was using) does not support blue ray disks unless you purchase additional software or patch VLC. Patching VLC was not straight forward. The files I had to download are hosted on a site in Russia. As you can expect I was nervous about this. However, after some further test and scanning the files were OK and I eventually got the system to play Blue ray disk. However, if you want full functionality with disk menus, further software needs loading. I was not worried about that so did not bother.

The unit arrived in minimal protective packaging, and as advertised was nothing more than a bare drive. Fortunately, even so, this is more than I need (I wanted a blu-ray reader rather than a writer. My PC case doesn't need screws to hold the drive in place and Ashampoo offer free burning software should that facility be required.

At the time of writing (end of 2020) the drive comes with firmware version 1.05Although this firmware is encrypted, it is still possible to flash to WH16NS60 1.02 (the recommended firmware to use to play UHD, region free, etc)Just check the MakeMKV forums to find the correct tool and files.

Direi che è un ottimo prodotto con un rapporto qualità/prezzo notevole, si installa facilmente e viene riconosciuto immediatamente da windows 10. Arriva senza scatola dentro un sacchetto di carta l'apparecchia è protetto da una busta in plastica con le palline di aria per attutirne eventuali impatti.Riguardo alla durata potrà essere valutata in futuro, per adesso è consigliabilissimo

Acheté pour remplacer un lecteur de DVD défaillant. Fonctionnel pour la lecture des Blueray Discs et des DVD. Pas encore testé en gravure BD ou DVD.Fourni tel quel, sans vis ni câble. Nécessite un logiciel adapté pour lire les Blueray protégés. Cependant, sur internet des tutoriels sont disponibles pour permettre d'adapter un logiciel comme VLC à cette tâche.
