The Glide Gear DEV 235 Slider was developed to allow anyone the ability to create Feature Film quality production shots within a reasonable budget. With aircraft grade, heavy-duty, CNC machined with tight tolerances, precision extruded industrial grade anodized aluminum construction, self-lubricating glide rails, spirit level & adjustable removable feet, the DEV 235 provides more bang for your buck than any other slider on the market in it's price range. The DEV 235 Slider can be used as a stand alone unit with the detachable feet, or you can even attach it directly to your tripod.

Glide Gear is the best.
The slider is great, but this review is mostly for Glide Gears' customer service. I'm on a very tight budget and just starting my own little production company, so when I saw this slider for $14.99 (refurbished) I jumped on it.The slider arrived with a few pieces missing, rendering it useless. I contacted Glide Gear through Amazon and got a response back quickly. No questions asked, I was just informed that they would be sending me a replacement.I received the replacement in a couple of days and was surprised to find that I was sent a brand new slider, which runs around $70, even though I had paid for a used one.The slider itself is great, as I mentioned above. I'd be happy to purchase another at full price if I ever need a second slider. That being said, I didn't have to return the one with missing parts, so I have some spare parts should I need them.Glide Gear is the way to go for filmmakers on a budget, who want quality gear to raise production value.

Good product for beginner and low-budget and light camera
Good product for beginner and low-budget and light camera. Not recommended for expert or heavy DLSR.I returned it cos not suitable for my use and not really stable at all. Screws, legs, slider, construction are quiet basic.I had a good communciation with the seller to return it. I got refund quickly. Thanks

Only smooth if you can make it smooth. Well built. Convenient. Usable if this is all your budget will allow.
Accidentally deleted my review, here's a shorter rewrite:Well-made, convenient to carry around (bag is great), quick to set up (I like how easy it is to balance with the legs.) It is what you make of it. It is NOT smooth at all. It does not slide on its own. I can get decently smooth shots from it if I slide my finger incredibly slow behind the slider (it works better if it's a little wet.)It's what I expected at this price, but it's not great at all. I bought a Manfrotto ball head (I forget the name of it now, but the number on it is 498RC2 if you're interested.) It makes it convenient, though I don't know how to actually level the camera, since none of the balance bubbles are affected by the ball joint that the camera is on. So I have to eyeball it (with a grid on), which is fine. Not the slider's fault, though I don't know how you'd use it without an additional head.

Much better sliders available
I chose to return this slider almost immediately after receiving it and purchased a competing product. I was unimpressed with the build quality and lack of features compared to other sliders at and even below this price point.CONS:1: This is a friction based slider. That means the carriage slides using frictionless polymer on the glossy smooth surface coating of the slider base. That means that if anything were to scuff or scratch the outer coating of the slider it effects the performance. Mine came with some slight dings that presented some snags right out the box.2: Lack of mount points. This slider has just ONE mount point in the middle of the slider for mounting to a tripod. At this length you don't need two tripods on either end but not having those mount points eliminates the possibility of using this slider as a sort of mini jib. It also lacks options to mount the slider vertically for elevation shots. (mounting plate perpendicular to the track on the end of the slider)3: Unwieldy legs. The long legs, while they can give you an added heigh advantage, have large portions of exposed threading. If something were to knock these legs the thread could be damaged and limit the range of leg extension. Plus it is not easy to lock down these legs. I also found that I adjust the legs with drastically different highs and bubble level still told me it was level because the bubble was quite large.PROS:1: Friction based slider. While it can easily be mucked up by dings and scratches in the finish, it IS possible to get smooth shots with this slider. Plus, you will get QUIETER camera moves with a slider like this compared to a ball-bearing based slider.BOTTOM LINE: I would not recommend this slider. There are far too many drawbacks and the thing just feels cheap. You can get a StudioFX ball-bearing slider that's longer, better built, and has more features for less money right here on Amazon. Steer clear of this slider.

Great for light cameras like Canon XA-10
Great for light cameras like Canon XA-10, my Canon 5D is too heavy for this model, but great build overall.
