Natural Horehound Old Fashion Hard Candy (Six - 6 oz. bags = 2.25 lbs (36 oz total))

Hard to describe, but great flavor and a nice amount of sweetness.

I remember my grandmother having these but forgot about them for decades. These serve an important niche for me. I don't tolerate the menthol in higher quantities in most cough drops. These are still soothing to the throat more than plain hard candies. They do seem to thin secretions/mucus as well as the standard cough drops and even ease my nasal congestion -- all without the unwarranted extra irritation that menthol gives me. I understand they are made from the horehound mint plant. In any case they are mild but have been effective and taste pretty good. I keep a supply at work where dry air, need to talk quite a bit and often being around sick people might otherwise prompt me to cough. Glad to find this simple solution. Interestingly, the effect on my cough which seems most often to be triggered when the ventilation comes on -- last for hours. So far I only need one to two per day. Previously was going though far more gum, cough drops of life savers. They are sugared. But at only one to two per 8-12 hour work day, I can live with that just fine. Addendum: I have become rather fascinated with these. Since I began using them 1-3 per day for a few weeks my throat in general feels much more at ease. And though I am definitely not a singer, I do find my voice works easier to sing if/when I do and for longer periods of time. These are going to remain a habit with me. Would love to see them made with honey or maple syrup (both of which are said to have anti-inflammatory properties) rather than primarily sugar. But sadly, but there are no horehound candies/drops available commercially this way -- would have to take to the kitchen and make my own. (Which I may do given how helpful these have been.)

Love this candy. It’s great for a sore or scratchy throat. Problem is, though, that I ordered and was charged for the multipack but only received one pack of candy.

This is a regular order that I get every couple of months. I love to have a few after my dinner. They are delicious and I was going to order more but they have gone up five dollars plus since April. I won’t pay $18 and something for six packs
