Ordered an inch or 2 larger than a measured LOOSE fit over scruff. SMALL- had to work into fur.
I got this collar as a gift for my sister who owns a husky... She can't keep nylon collars on the dog much of the time since it messes up her fur, and when she does have one on its very loose so it doesn't mess up her fur so much....This has been an issue due to the dog fear attacking mine. She hasn't bit really, but she has chased my dog to growl and snap all over the place- my sister even got bit helping me break them up.I mean that gave me the chance to teach my dog, who is training to take over my olds dogs Service dog work, to not respond and to dodge till I can grab and pin the other dog....This collar already saved my life.Dogs bumped my sister's door open and her husky came out, I was able to collar her and keep them apart since my dog immediately RAN to the other side of our house haha.I'm a little down that it's on the last hole, despite the husky measuring between 14-15 inch wide in the neck...And that's over her scruff fur. This collar had to be worked into her fur to fit comfortably. And it's still quite a bit tighter than my sister keeps her collars on when walking. It's still loose when you go by the 2 finger rule...But we don't keep our collars that tight. We've had a dog stolen because they collared him and drug him into their car and peeled out.Ever since, we keep collars just loose enough for our dogs to slip them, along with making sure to train the dogs to stay away from ppl unless we tell them otherwise.(Paranoia that many dog lovers out in the country have. It's makes things hard when socializing a dog, but it's worth it.And often times if we collar one of our dogs- we grab the scruff with the collar. We've learned how to keep them from slipping the collar with us, along with taught them not to try...It's worth it to know that if a stranger manages to catch a collar- that's all they are going to get.I foster dogs, and we have 2 pure bred, papered dogs. Small town so EVERYONE knows this- along with the fact that our dogs are VERY well trained, even the troubled fosters I get to train are better than most pets after a month or 3 with us.)Anyway, her dog can't slip this collar- especially because she has her winter coat in.But the good thing? When the dog slims down in summer she'll have plenty of space for her collar to shrink with her!I just wish it had a hole or two more so we could get the dog used to how tight a collar is supposed to be.She's currently at her peak weight, along with her winter fur being in- so I doubt we'll have to buy another collar larger for winter...Thin dog to begin with, but we have her eating regular now that they are back from Japan...So eh.But the dog doesn't mind this collar! She got annoyed when I was parting the scruff to settle the collar...But that's it.And since my sister uses an entire different collar when leash walking her husky (as she pulls like crazy when she gets distracted, which is all she does in town as on our land the dogs free roam where we teach them.) I figured this collar would be good for at home on the property. It's just going to be used to hold an ID tag I had made for her as well...Unless we have an accident where our dogs meet again. It's one thing to keep dogs separate when you alone are switching around what room they are in....It's a whole other when 2 ppl are used to living alone with their dog at their heel...We have oopses. But the collar held up when I pulled and tugged, I really love the hardware- I'll add pictures later. It has an oversized D ring, since the end of the collar would go thru that ring if you had it tighter than the last hole....But it also has a piece that holds the VERY end of the collar when on the last hole. It's a tighter fit, I had to work the end into it... But the end of the collar is staying tucked!!!I have a leather collar for my older SD, as the padding is easier on his fur than nylon- which he won't keep on at all...But it drives me crazy because at home I have to keep his collar loose enough for him to slip it (we've had an attempted grab on him before)... And the very end of the collar sticks out like a sore thumb! It just won't stay tucked in EITHER band for it.I'm going to wind up adding an elastic piece to his collar just for that. This is a great collar, which I guess going by the 2 finger rule it is true to size....BUT I made sure to order it with an inch or two EXTRA past what would be a loose 4 finger "rule"...So if you want the collar to GROW with the dog, order up.If this dog weren't the poster child for doggy eating disorders (literally), I'd have had to return it.As it is, she's topped out and is old enough she's long since stopped growing.

WOW excellent dog collars
We have been looking for leather dog collars for years and are so happy we found these on Amazon. Our two dogs seem to really like them and since the dogs for siblings, boy and girl they look identical and we always had problems determining who was boy and who was the girl...so we ordered a red collar for the female and a blue collar for the male...so our problem was solved...these are really impressive collars.

Attractive and functional leather collar
I ordered this collar for my young Labrador Retriever puppy and am very pleased with it. The rolled leather is a plus making the collar even more attractive and functional. The traditional flat collar ends with metal buckle and ring for snapping on a leash make this collar adjustable which allows for my puppy's growth. I look forward to using this collar for years to come.

Love them
Bought the smallest one for our Yochon-yorkie bichon mix, then had to go to the next size as she got a little bigger, I love that they are round and not flat

Color never fads!
I got the collar for AKC Scent Wor/ tracking. This collar has bleed resident colors. Getting wet they maintained color and form, where most leather does not without treatment. Love it! Buy again Absolutely! My girl swims in it, still bright and colorful. Love it!

Perfect for dogs who do not want matting issues.
This is a fantastic collar for dogs who tend to form matts. Our maltese has long hair that was a nightmare with traditional collars. Now, she can wear her tags without painful matting.
