Just Pockets Paperback – 7 Oct. 1997

I was reading a pocket construction article in the latest Threads magazine which was based on an excerpt of this book.Taking a chance to find it on amazon I was not disappointed! I had a quick read through yesterday and am now reading in detail today. I may even sew my way through the examples - normally I get a reference book for the point at which I need to check it but this book is like a love letter to pockets, as daft as that sounds. You just want to try out all of the techniques.I love that the layout is very clear with loads of illustrations to show you each step of the different construction processes. Not only for the main/base pocket but also for all different variations! This is a lovely surprise as I usually find sewing books will show you a very clear demonstration and then just write a quick line or paragraph about how to change it.Excellent book! I’m now going to check whether the author has any more gems out there

I bought this book because so few patterns now days have a pocket which is a real design feature. Most go no further than a simple patch pocket, if they even bother at all!!! This book shows how to plan and place a pocket on any garment and gives easy to follow directions to achieve the perfect result. I am more than pleased with the book. It is very useful as well as a real pleasure to read.

My daughter kept borrowing this from the university library and so was pleased to have her own copy. Very helpful and easy to follow.

This book is dedicated to sewing different types of pockets and has some good professional tips. Some of the instructions are a little hard to follow - I think it is aimed at the more advanced sewer rather than the novice (like me!) but is a good read for anyone who is interested in how the pockets are compiled.
