Sweet and kind of savory!
These are so good! I’m a fan of Mochi but can only find the ice cream mochi where I live. I was sad that I had to share these with my husband. They smell like potato chips and have a slightly savory taste so if you’re looking for super sweet these are not it. I very much enjoyed it though.

Taro is NOT naturally purple - good quality item!
First of all, a little research goes a long way. The product is not expired or spoiled because it isn't purple. Bubble tea powders include purple food coloring, so naturally people have come to expect taro to be purple, but if you actually look up the taro root, it's mostly white with a little bit of a lavender color throughout. I've included a photo of it for reference.Second of all, the box likely causes some confusion because it shows a dark purple paste, which I'm guessing is due to the normally false coloring of taro tea powders. If it wasn't purple then the consumer would likely be confused due to this pre-conceived notion that all taro is purple, but it then causes confusion upon the product not actually being purple. I would suggest to the manufacturer to either use purple food coloring to match the box, or change the photo on the box to match what the consumer will actually be getting, possibly with a photo of actual taro such as what I did here.Third of all, unless you've had taro before you may not know what it's supposed to taste like. It's a starch like a potato but is slightly sweet and has a hint of vanilla. The smell does seem familiar to potatoes and actually smelled a little like French fries upon opening the package, but the sweetness and vanilla was present upon taking a bite.Overall, the product is not bad. The price was pretty decent for it being an imported item. The flavor definitely seems to be accurate, and I tried taro bubble tea for the first time yesterday so I would know what to expect taste-wise. It was delivered in 40 degree weather so there was no sweating or melting present, and the expiration date on the box is not until May 2023. As this is only my second time having taro and the first time in mochi form, I would probably personally rate it a 6/10. It's definitely a different kind of sweet than I'm used to, but I would recommend this for those who are used to it and enjoy it. As it's not something that is native to North America, it may be an acquired taste type of item.

SMELLS & TASTES FUNNY
Once you open the box there is a really odd smell that I can't describe. I have had taro, taro products and taro mochi before and this one is very light in color comparison. I still decided to give it a try. My daughter and I took one each and bit into it. Neither of us finished chewing or finished the mochi, it does NOT taste like taro at all! Just like the smell, I can't describe what it tastes like. Very disappointed, waste of money, throwing it out.

Good mochi
Gift for my niece. She loved it. Texture is an acquired taste (as is the taro filling), but freezing it helps. It's still pliable even when frozen.

Flavor was not good!
Typically, my favorite mochi flavor is taro. I've never had one that tasted like this. It was not good. Bottom line, I won't be buying this brand again.
