Recycled Sound 6/12 Attenuator - 16 OhmsWhy 6/12? Engage 1 switch and remove -6db of powerEngage the 2nd switch and your -12dbThat equals a volume reduction of 60%. The Recycled Sound attenuator is a passive, resistive load with compensated impedance and EQ, which maintains the designated impedance, EQ'd such that no degradation in tone is noted, even at full -12db attenuation. Use it as a Master Volume, use it to save your hearing at practice, find your tube tone without getting thrown out of the club, use it to prevent blowing up your vintage or low power speakers. Use TWO in series and achieve -24db attenu

The tone there is good enough for me
I got this to use with my Marshall JCM800. If you've ever played one of these amps you'll know that quiet isn't an option. As soon as the amp starts making noise it's very loud. I don't play the amp "cranked" but keep it around 1 on the master volume. The tone there is good enough for me, I got this attenuator to bring that sound down a little quieter for use at home. The attenuator definately works great for dropping the volume. Each switch makes a difference and with both engaged it definately brings the amp down to "bedroom" volume but keeping in mind I only have the master on 1. I don't plan to go any higher with it as I have no need to, so with that in mind this device works very well.I only have 2 negatives with it, first it doesn't take that much volume out, as I use it with the master on 1 it gives me the equivalent of the master being on .5, so about half of 1 on the volume dial and that's with both switches engaged. If you plan to run your amp wide open this won't do a lot for you. The second thing is the tone loss, my amp still sounds good with the attenuator but it definately looses some of the low end and thump, even turning the amp louder than normal with the attenuator in use it still does not regain the low end lost. With that said I can deal with these issues. I wouldn't say that they are horrible, just that it won't bring a "cranked" amp to a reasonable level and it DOES take away some of the fullness of the tone. However, for my purposes it works well and I can deal with a little tone loss.
