This is a high quality item that does exactly what it advertised. I used it as a relatively cheap but ideal solution for indicating occupancy of a unisex changing area for our compounding lab and locking the door for the employee to change in privacy. It installs exactly like a deadbolt, whit it essentially is but with only the ability to unlock from the inside. With that in mind, be aware what all will be required to install a deadbolt on a door/door jamb that probably wasn't premade for one if it is an interior door. A door lock installation kit is a worthwhile investment to this end and in addition to the kit, you will probably want to have and know how to use wood chisels for the bolt plate and bolt hole on the door jamb.

Wasn't easy to search for at first, but item was available in Amazon and arrived fast!I was wondering if the emergency key was simple to lose, what else in a pinch might work. (To my surprise, a Simplex annunciator / duct detector reset key fits too).Our situation was to retrofit this over old Yale Mortise lock installation. After filling larger void, this was simple to install, works smoothing without directions to public, was immediately successful. The emergency key is very small, so if you do lose it, they can be found, but in a pinch, use force or sharp object to press against red occupied indicator, and twist until green to unlock.

I bought 3 of these locks and one was getting stuck so I had to purchase another one and I'm returning the defective one, maybe it was a one in a million, but that was my experience, the other ones are working great, overall, I will recommend this product.

Before I decided on this lock I checked out several others. This one seemed to have the best quality, but until it is installed and used, it was hard to tell. I liked the quality out of the box, and now that it has been in use for a few weeks at a heavily-used commercial location, it appears the quality will hold up over time.

A problem that looks simple from the outside may not be so simple to resolve, but this unit is idiot proof. We had a door knob lock that could be "picked" from the outside by people who didn't know how to knock first to check for occupancy. People would barge in on someone sitting down and create embarrasing moments. This unit stopped the lock picking and signals that the room is occupied. Since installation, everyone loves it and there are no more incidents. Very simple and effective.

I ordered 8 of these and three of them have already failed withing the first 60 days. I love the concept, but the vacant/occupied sign stops working. That portion of the dead bolt appears to be very poorly made.

Bought this to replace the lock at our restaurant. It’s easy to install and pretty durable. Highly recommend if you are looking for a lock that will last.
