Because the washers are not dished the clamping pressure is near the centre making it more likely that clamping a grinding wheel might make it crack. Plain washers are ok for mounting buffing pads or wire brush wheels. It's a pity that a very large screwdriver is needed to tighten the wheel in place, a hexagonal head that could be tightened with a spanner would be better. The packaging claims that the arbor can clamp a wheel that is up to 1 inch thick. Not so. The arbor only has the capacity to clamp wheels up to 0.6 inch thick, 0.7 inch if you leave out the washers. It has a maximum speed of 6,000 rpm. It's made in China.
