Great for planting trees and shrubs
This is very powerful! I used it for planting was a huge help digging the wholes. Saved alot of time and back breaking labor. The price was responsible too. I would definitely recommend this product.

Perfect for fence posts!
This is, so far, a really great product! It's compact and fairly lightweight ( heavy enough that you don't really need to push to get the hole started) with surprising power! I've drilled dozens of holes of varying depths for fence post and for planting small trees. It cuts through small tree roots with no issues. The best part is No Gas to mess with! Just plug it in and go!The only drawbacks I've encountered are:1. You must be very mindful of where the cord is running (this is common sense) but you need to be aware at all times. I tend to put the cord over my shoulder and let it trail behind me.2. There is NO safety stop unless you completely let go! And even then it takes a turn or two to come to a complete stop. So hitting a rock or larger tree root could potentially take you for a ride if you're not paying attention! It doesn't take long to get a feel for what the bit is up against (rocks and roots etc.) and I found that a light grip, just enough to squeeze the trigger and pull the unit up if needed, will save possible sprained wrists.Overall it's a great unit and exactly what I needed. I would absolutely buy another if this one ever quits.

So far, so good. With a few caveats. Would DEFINITELY purchase again, though.
Recently moved to almost 2 acres of land, none of which has been fenced in. Problematic for our 4 beagles. I have grown weary of taking them on walks 3 times a day in 100 degree heat in the Texas summer. Time to build a fence (and doggie door).Got quoted anywhere from $800 to $2000 just to dig holes for fence posts. Have rented a gas powered auger with less than stellar results. Working one of those monstrosities yourself is next to impossible, without Hulk-like strength. And at current rentals upwards of $200/day, looking into purchasing this seemed a good option.Alarmingly light, when pulling out of the box, compared to its gas-powered cousin, I had my doubts as to how it would stack up.So far, so good. I can go at my own pace, digging as many (or few) holes as I want in a given day. I have over 100 to do. At around $160 or so, purchasing this new, at a fraction of rental seems like a no-brainer.It IS indeed every bit as powerful as the 1500w motor advertised.Couple things to consider. Some of which have already been covered:1) This thing has NO reverse gear. You WILL get stuck on occasion, unless you go slow, a few inches at at time, and pull up while engaging the engine. It will clear the soil, and give you the chance to dig deeper. Having said that, with no reverse, if you aren't careful, your hands, arms and shoulders will bear the brunt of the force when it stops. The auger will stop, but the motor won't. Wear padded gloves. Especially on your left hand. Trust me, your hands will thank you later.2. You'll need a at least a 14ga extension cord that can handle the wattage/amperage this thing puts out. I bought 2 - 100' 14ga extension cords so reaching the back of our property wouldn't be an issue. Depending on how many holes you dig, or how far away from a power source you'll be, make sure to have enough cord to accommodate your needs.3. It is slow. Probably designed purposely, but wasn't expecting it to go so slow. High torque/slow speed. So, get a wide stance, brace your arms, but keep loose and watch out for debris.4. Which gets me to the last point. This will not cut through roots, rocks or anything of substance. Its for dirt. If you hit any of those things, it will bind up on you and kickback or get stuck. Refer to 1 & 2 above. A rock bar or shovel (sometimes a hammer or saw) will do the dirty work of clearing your workspace.Knowing all that, cutting into just about any soil is a breeze. Once you get the hang of it, you can knock out a 24" hole in less than a minute, under ideal conditions. For me, it is worth every penny so far. Time will tell on its longevity. I suspect those that complained "it died on the 2nd use" or whatever, probably used a smaller gauge extension cord, and burned up the motor.Once I'm done with it, I can sell it, and still make out pretty well, cheaper than a rental overall. Or maybe rent it out myself. LOLGood luck and if I can do it, I'm betting you can, too. Now, get to digging!

Totally awesome by surprise!!
After having my relatively new 2cycle (HF) auger crap out on me.. with 20 holes to go.. and wasted half a day tinkering on it , I happened on this electric auger. Being a little skeptical, but overwhelmed by the idea of being able to just pick it up and have a usable tool, I went for it. I have a small 80cc firman generator that worked just fine. I threw it on the tractor along with the auger, and took off. I WAS BLOW AWAY BY THIS LITTLE BEAST!!! It munched through roots, and dug into gumbo (a thick clay soil that’s either gooey or super hard ..smoking tools in a heartbeat)… This little auger made my day so easy!! Really.. I don’t want to work harder.. the ergonomics are good, and I was less fatigued due to its lighter weight! My post are 200lbs, so any cut on labor is a blessing. And do you know what the next best part is??? I know that if it sits for a year.. it’s still gonna work!!! I am delighted with this purchase!! And I hope it does as well for you!! I have a feeling I will be digging more holes just because it is so darn effective! Quality: good, Power: good, ergonomics: good. Auger bit: good, sharp. I do hope this tool makes you as happy as it did me.

Dig 8 inch post holes 29 inches deep fast
Solid construction powerful auger was a surprise for the price. Digging down 8 inch wide holes 29 inches deep was fast and easy. However incorrect use of any auger can result in a fractured wrist, hand or arm if it catches on a rock, root, or hard gravel and you don't release the power switch fast enough and let go of the auger. You have to know what type of soil you are augering into. You want to maintain a firm grip on the device but at the same time make sure you are able to release it quickly in case it grabs onto something and starts twisting. If it starts twisting and you don't let go fast enough it can twist your arm right off because it has lots of power. Let the auger go down a couple of inches then pull it up and let it push the material away from the hole. Don't try to dig the hole all in one motion you got to do it in steps. In soft soil you can dig a hole in under a minute. In gravel or clay it might take you a couple of minutes to dig a hole going a little bit at a time. In packed gravel it can be slow going as you may need to break up the rock with a demolition pick then augur it out. Powerful electric motor. Advantage of electric motors over gasoline engines is that an electric motor always starts and requires no maintenance. Will be taking this up to Virginia to auger 40 post holes for my son's pig farm. This will make it quick and easy. The auger bit comes off with a simple cotter pin so it will fit in the trunk of a small car.
