Buck fan
Buck 112 Slim Select. What a fantastic American made knife. Buck is solid. This is not just a knife but a tool. Great heritage here, sharp out of the box, nice center and lockup. Knife nerds may bash the 420 hc steel but it is solid for skinning and cutting. It sharpens easy and lightweight and carries easy. For the price you should have two of these. The orange color pops. Great for carrying in the field like it should be. Skin a buck or fillet some fish with it. Get on it !!

Good American made choice for those on a budget
I've had this knife for about 4 months now, so I can definitively say that for the TLDR of my review, at the ~$30 USD price tag for an American made folding knife, you get what you pay for and that there's not really much to complain about in terms of what you are getting. Its a sturdy lockback with no liners, so the action is never going to be as smooth or as fast opening as something with washers or bearings, but with an occasional drop of oil in the pivot it'll still be reasonably quick to open. It will never be quite on the level of something like an Ontario Rat II or a SOG Terminus XR, but it'll still be pretty reasonable easy and quick to open as long as you put a drop in the pivot once or twice a month to keep it lubricated. As for the nylon handles themselves, they're actually pretty darn sturdy, so no need to worry if you're having reservations towards the handles being made of plastic. They have a nice texture to them, not at all what I'd consider to be "aggressive" but with the texturing and the checkering Buck has done with the handles, I doubt anyone would lose their grip unless they sprayed WD-40 on their hands. Also, just as a word of caution for those who like to take their knives apart and customize them, everything on this knife except the pocket clip is pinned/riveted into place, so there's no taking this apart without specialized tools/equipment, and even if you do succeed, taking apart a Buck knife may void the warranty. Their warranty service is pretty darn good though, so I have no doubt that if something happens to be wonky with yours that they will take care of you. The pocket clip is very functional and is able to be unscrewed and swapped for either left or right handed carry, but its gaudy aesthetic may be a detractor to some. Personally I'm neutral, but you may want to take that into consideration if that bothers you. As for the blade, mine arrived perfectly centered from the box and their legendary Bos heat-treat lives up to its reputation amongst knife enthusiasts as I have yet to have to do anything beyond routine touchups. Overall it's a very solid buy, and especially so for the ~$30 price point in a day and age where Chinese and Taiwanese made knives have dominated the budget friendly market and many American knifemakers ignore the budget market in favor of more lavish and premium models oriented at enthusiasts than hardworking people who just want a well made product without spending extra on premium features they don't need or want. Good to see Buck is filling that niche quite nicely.

Has become my “Every Day Carry” knife.
Typical Buck knife. Have used it as an EDC for some time now. Durable. Nice weight - easy to carry on you. Holds a very nice edge. Functions flawlessly. It has been a real workhorse for me. I would happily buy one again.

Budget friendly USA made knife.
I purchased the Buck 112 slim select to add to my every day carry options. And like my previously purchased Mini Spitfire, I found myself with mixed emotions about the overall feel of the knife. Let it be said, however, that my initial impression of the Mini Spitfire feeling cheap because of it being so light was totally off base - it is a GREAT knife and my personal favorite! The 112 Slim Select is a bit larger than my spitfire, and it is slightly heavier. The glass-filled nylon feels more like plastic, and I'm concerned about its durability. Most concerning, however, is the fact that there is that the blade does not deploy very smoothly. I've added some oil and worked on opening and closing repeatedly with hopes that it will eventually smooth out. Even so, I'm excited to add it to my collection and give it a fair shake. The blade on my knife was also slightly off centered, but it is of no big deal to me. It is extremely sharp, and I love the blade shape. The pocket clip is a bit different than I'm used to, so I can't speak on it yet, but I doubt it will be an issue for me. Overall, I'm very happy to purchase a USA made knife for under $50 in today's economy. The fact that it is a Buck is icing on the cake! 4.5 out of 5 stars!

great little EDC knife!
handle feels great! locks sturdy, no blade play, feather-light, and sharp out of the box. wish the clip were a little deeper so that it would sit a bit deeper in my pocket, but it's a nitpick. the little box was a little squished, but the knife was perfectly safe, so I didn't mind. for the price, you can't beat it. 100% recommend!~

A pretty good knife, for me anyway.
It's my daily carry knife, and it works well when I need one. The size is just right, and the clip is short, which prevents it from getting caught on things. The knife is held together with rivets, not screws, which mean it will not loosen up over time, which I really hate with knives held together with screws. Now, if it came with a tracking device so I could easily find it when I lose it, it would be perfect! ;) But at the current price, I don't mind buying another when I lose one.

Lower your expectations!
This one has a very wonky grind and came out of the box with a giant burr. The burr was easily removed and despite the vastly uneven grind the knife is extremely sharp and a great slicer. Lock up is solid with no blade play and feels good. Handle is a decent size giving a full grip in all positions, may be on the small side for some people though. This is a good light duty knife that you don’t need to be afraid to loose or abuse.
