works perfectly
This 7th Gen 160 Gb iPod classic is perfectly functional and is just like the original iPod I had 17 years ago. The hard drive is clearly brand new - you can check this using the onboard diagnostics of the ipod. Battery life seems as advertised. Really very happy with the product and the service. Seller was happy to answer my questions before buying. I am able to sync using itunes (but not media monkey for some reason). I have been able to subscribe to podcasts and buy songs from the store (like it's 20 years ago!). This ipod has the "genius playlist" function which I have not experienced before and works really well.

No good
Having used a 160Gb iPod classic for many years, I found myself really struggling to adapt to a different brand of MP3 player. Based on reviews for refurbished iPods, I had a 90% chance of getting one which worked properly. Sadly I was one of the 10%, the iPod a recieved looked as good as new but would not charge. Fortunately, I was able to get a refund via Amazon when I returned it. So the product was completely useless but I was able to get a refund. So I have an MP3 Walkman now and some head-scratching to do in order to make it do the things my iPod used to do.

Pretty good for a renewed item.
fantastic condition and initially battery was lasting really well. Sadly, after 10 months the battery has lost a lot of its life and takes much longer to recharge.

Excellent condition. Great service.
Initially I was a little sceptical about buying a reconditioned iPod however the one which arrived was nearly new. No scratches on the outer case and it works perfectly. My husband has one which he has owned for years and you wouldn’t be able to tell that mine was bought recently. The sound is great although I bought a separate set of earphones as the ones supplied didn’t sit in my ears properly. I am therefore giving this five stars for service, sound quality, appearance and value for money.

You Would Swear the iPod I Bought Was Brand New
I am delighted with my new iPod Classic. After many fine years, my old iPod finally started playing up. It started only playing through one ear of my headphones, and in the end it wouldn’t synchronise with iTunes. I took it to some nice Indian chappies who repair phones etc, but they kept saying “iPod?” as if I was asking them to fix my gramophone or something. With some difficulty I explained what it was, and what was wrong with it, and in the end they said “No Sir, cannot help”. And that was that. And unfortunately, Apple in their wisdom don’t sell the wonderful iPod Classic anymore. Maybe I have been lucky, but you would swear the one I bought was brand new. It took a bit of messing around to change the time-zone from Honolulu to Blighty etc, but it works perfectly and I am now a very happy customer indeed.

Will not download my music.
I cannot down load the ITunes music to the iPod. I think iTunes have made changes to the format preventing the IPod from downloading loading the purchased albums. Can anyone send a trouble shooting message as I really want this?

Itunes does not recognise this device!
After posing the obvious questions following reading the discussions and previous question/reviews I purchased the Classic , but my Windows 10 desktop Itunes failed to recognise the device, though the device says it is connected, I was passed to Apple support , who tried a few things via a screen share but failed to resolve, the advice was to try it on another computer and if that failed get back to them , they gave me a case number. It looks like a return and refund to me at the moment . The device looks good and does everything but connect and sync to itunes ...???? So how can it still be sold as fit for purpose , if there are so many questions regarding lack of Apple support , whats the alternative ???

Great value overall. Item works without problems, indeed the battery seems to last forever and the finish of all parts is like new. If I ever need another one of these I would definitely consider this seller again.

My beloved IPod Classic experienced a battery failure. Reluctant to send it off somewhere to have the battery replaced, I ordered a "Easy to do it yourself battery replacement kit". Well, long story shortened, I needed a new IPod Classic after finding out just how difficult it is to open the Ipod classic units with the plastic tools provided. Having mortally wounded my beloved 120GB IPod classic which I had used daily for years, I considered other sources for hosting my music. Another long story shortened, I decided I had to have another IPod Classic. Of course, the only problem is they haven't been made now by Apple for over a decade. I looked online for sources of IPod Classics. Far too many of the sources I found left me very skeptical of the claims made about the products offered. I suppose there is someone in China who might have had the insight to buy hundreds of brand new IPod Classic's back in the day and put them away for a decade assuming there would be consumers like myself who would demand decade old technology and who would be willing to pay the price. However, I just couldn't get comfortable with giving my credit card information to someone in China and waiting for a month for a "Brand new" Ipod classic to arrive. The fact that the reviews of the other sources didn't seem to be for the specific product I was interested in, I was left thinking perhaps my IPod Classic days were over. Then I found the "Repurposed" IPod Classic through Amazon. I ordered it and it took a week to get it with the Holiday in the time line. I will say that I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box and the IPod Classic I had purchased looked as good as new. Not a mark on it, and the screen is clear and perfect. The chrome back of the unit is as new. The control wheel looks and functions like brand new. I reloaded my entire ITunes library onto this new unit and Sync process worked flawlessly. I used the IPod Classic today for several hours and the battery life is as new and the unit functioned perfectly. While the IPod Classic I had previously was the 120GB model, the new one I purchased was the 160GB model, I downloaded my 450 songs onto the new IPod Classic by using the Sync feature, which worked perfectly. I was concerned that perhaps ITunes might not allow me to download my library of music onto a device with a different serial number, but it didn't seem to matter. The purchase process was typical Amazon simple and efficient. While the "Re-manufactured IPod Classic" arrived in a small, white box with a generic pair of ear buds and a connection cable with the IPOd Classic end and a USB plug on the other end. The IPod Classic had clear plastic covering the chrome back of the unit and it was packed in the box with packing to prevent it from rattling around the box. Other than the box and the off brand ear buds, you would never know this wasn't a brand new unit, it is that nice. I had just ordered and received a custom made leather case for my IPod Classic within a week of the battery failure and this unit fit the case perfectly and I am back in business with my music. Having the confidence of 90 days of return and Amazon's always easy to work with customer service was what led me to proceed with ordering this unit verses supposedly a "new one" from another online source. While the listing for the other unit kept insisting it was a brand new Apple IPod Classic, when I read the website, it referred to the brand as that of a China company and not Apple. I am very pleased with this purchase and while it might be "Re-Purposed", it looks and functions as if it were brand new. Thank You Amazon for offering this service, it provides a source for those of us who want to purchase technology that hasn't been made new in over a decade, yet permit us to receive a unit which looks and functions as if brand new.

Item looks great with no scratches or blemishes. Returned the first one I purchased because it would not work at all unless plugged into wall charger. Battery would not take a charge even after a few days. Return was effortless (thank you Amazon!). Second purchase, unit again looked great cosmetically. This time batteries worked fine and synch to itunes worked great. But unit was essentially useless as the track wheel did not work at all. Now returning second unit and seriously questioning whether it is worth trying again. Amazon claims they check functioning of units before offering for sale. I am beginning to think all they do ii plug them into the wall and make sure they powers up. I have owned one of these (bought brand new from apple) for over ten years. I am pretty sure the problems are with the units and not with anything I am doing.

My iPod no longer works. I charge it to full memory. As soon as I turn it on, all of the memory drains.

I wish that Apple hadn't discontinued this particular line. The Classic is nearly "undestroyable". It goes almost everywhere with me. I have yet to fill its memory completely and most of my music is with me.
