Q: Will this work with the usb output on an airplane?

Do not think so. You need a music player software to play your music. My understanding is that this device works only through a computer.

Q: Will it improve the sound quality if i'm using it with my ibasso dx80 player?

Nothing to do with the player. It has to do with providing power to your headphones.

Q: Does this have a battery and can it be used with iphones and ipads without a usb hub?

No, it doesn't have a battery. I am not sure if it can be used with Apple iPhone/iPad but one of the reviewers was able to get it working with an Android phone.

Q: Is this good enough as desktop amp for driving a DT880 600ohms?

600 ohm cans are 'typically' power mongers. You'd get better results from a full size dac/amp. These are designed with portability in mind and there's not really much need for that if you're using it as a 'desktop' amp. That said ... a major improvement over output from a desktop computer/laptop/phone/tablet.
