Saves feline Lives!
My Vet told me about this years ago. It saved my cat's life! She is a rescue off the streets about 15 years ago. She is FIV, so very susceptible to myriad infections. She has been near death so often...but has been well for years now.I feed 2 feral colonies. They are all TNR, so they live comfortably as possible outside. One colony that feed, mix 2 scoops into the wet food on top of their dry food. They are now so strong and healthy! My at home colony is pretty picky, so I am now gradually increasing everyday with a very small sprinkle. This product is best when moistened first, so that it dissolves.NO more URI, no eye infections! This even helps when injured and when I can feed special one-on-one...it helps for fast healing.I would never have ANY cats without L-Lysine. This is best function at best cost.

Did not know about Lysine and how it is a miracle worker
I am a first time owner of a cat. Knew nothing about them except to only pet them when they ask for it and do it carefully or else! (Thankfully my cat, Panini, is actually very affectionate and adores hugs and cuddles). There was a day when I noticed Panini was sneezing, a lot. I had heard him once or twice sneeze but that's obviously normal. However, I knew something was up when it was consistent and we could hear him from the second floor. I didn't find it alarming at first since he had no other symptoms. He ate and drank water. Went outside and came back in to play. Had his night "zoomies" and playfully attacked our dog before rolling onto his back. He looked healthy and seemed fine. But after the second/third day of his sneezing, I finally looked online to see what it could be. I scratched off allergies since it was described as the "occasional sneeze"? I eliminated the flu/cold since he had no loss of appetite, his nose was not runny nor were his eyes producing any form of leakage.I did catch the recommendation of adding Lysine to their daily diet to boost their immune system and help protect their respiratory from infections. So I came here and found this product. Read how many reviewers gave it to their cats who kept sneezing and it helped. That was enough for me although I also felt better that it would help his respiratory system and overall protect him, something I wanted since he loves to go outside and there are countless strays he comes across so who knows what they carry.I did have to also purchase some wet food since I saw it was recommended to make it easier for the cat to digest. When I received this product, I was somewhat disappointed by the very small size, even more so when you open it and find the container only 75% full (like opening a bag of chips). 1 star for that.I followed the instructions and added 1 spoonful (it comes with a properly sized spoon) of the powder into his food, twice daily. I will have to say that it was within a week that I noticed improvement. The first few days, he was still sneezing but not as often as before. Once a week passed, no more sneezing. None. Even my mom praised this product and thought of getting some for us (until I read how for us humans, Lysine can give us kidney failure)Since Panini got better, I reduced his dosage to only one time a day and it still seems to work.Despite not being happy about the price and the small size, I will keep purchasing this product. Panini worth it.

Great stuff for feline herpes; plus, a cautionary tale and a solution to a problem
I purchased this as a replacement for another brand (Viralys) that I had been getting through my vet. One of our kitties had a "cold" when we adopted her. That "cold" just wouldn't clear up. She had a weepy eye and sneezles for weeks. When we took her to the vet, the vet said it was kitty herpes and prescribed the Viralys (at $30 a container). It's l-lysine in powder form; you sprinkle it on the cat food. There is no cure for feline herpes, but l-lysine helps clear up the symptoms.(For those who want to know how l-lysine helps, The Cat Doctor & Friends in Santa Clarita says, "We use L-Lysine to fool your cat's herpes virus into self-destructing by using L-Lysine, instead of another amino acid Arginine, when making new copies of itself. This decreases the amount of herpes virus in your cat's body and hopefully eliminates clinical signs such as sneezing or squinting one eye and reddish brown discharge. Green or yellow discharge from your cat's eye or nose is probably not feline herpes and deserves a veterinary visit.")The Viralys l-lysine powder not only worked great, clearing up the weepy eye and drippy nose within a remarkably short amount of time, it was also loved by all our kitties. (The vet said it wouldn't hurt any of them to eat it.)However, at $30 a container, and with the stupid mistake I made that wasted half a container (see below), I wanted to find a less expensive alternative. And I did. This product, the Tomlyn Scientifics l-lysine, seems to be identical to the Viralys, and costs half what my vet was charging me. My one concern was whether it would taste as good to the kitties, and it does indeed seem to.== My Stupid Mistake and How You Can Avoid It ==When I first got the Viralys from my vet, I made a stupid mistake. I used the little scoop that comes with the powder to sprinkle the lysine powder on the cat food, and then I used the scoop to stir the powder into the food. Then I returned the scoop to the container. Those of you who are familiar with good sanitation practices will be able to predict what happened next: after a while, the tiny crumbs of cat food I had inadvertently transferred to the container gave birth to new life. In a few weeks, I saw suspicious little clumps and balls in the powder. I threw out the rest of the powder rather than risk making my kitties sick. After thinking about what I could do to prevent wasting my kitties' medicine (and my money), I realized the solution: put the powder into a shaker container so it never gets contaminated. After shopping around, I purchased the Kaiser Bakeware La Forme Select Sugar/Spice Shaker Set (available here on Amazon), which is just the right size for the powder. I'm using the shaker lid with the largest holes. Now all is well.

Good product!
This product is great for support for my cat. The only problem is the experation date on the container is quickly faded to where I no longer can see it. I would have to read it and write it down somewhere before it fades away.

I live in Hawaii where there are a lot of feral kitties. Many of them are in rough shape.. I add this supplement to the wet food of the ferals I feed.. I can see marked improvements in their health!
