Hayden Automotive 687 Rapid-Cool Plate and Fin Transmission Cooler

As a retired GM technician I have installed hundreds of this type of coolers. The first thing I get rid of is the clamps. I have seen to many screw clamps fail. I get fuel system clamps from a local auto parts store. I'm not sure why coolers are shipped with 11/32 hose instead of 3/8. Better flexibility I guess.. Don't use grease on the hose connections. Soak end of hose in hot soapy water. I always flush the cooler and lines before I connect the hoses to the vehicle. If the vehicle has quick connect fittings you will have to make or buy a fitting or line to connect to radiator. A Chevy Traverse isn't the easiest car to put a cooler on. The front of the car has to be removed.

When coupled with the stock in radiator cooler, it keeps my transmission about 20 degrees cooler than my stock cooler alone/

Right out of the box its a well made cooler. It's going to work well for my application. I wanted the AN fittings for a more permanent, secure and cooler look, no pun intended. The one I received did not have the two brass fittings, as pictured, which adapts the hose to the AN flare fittings on the cooler. I'm somewhat unhappy about that. For me it's impossible to use without having additional fittings. The upside if there is one is that I wanted 90 degree fittings for a better fit and look, so the pictured fittings would have been tossed in the parts bin. I have attached a picture of the exact contents of the package I received.

This transmission cooler is very durable with the design of construction. Very good item. Did have to purchase different fitting for cooler connection but that was due to me oversizing the supply & return lines.

I use it for power steering in my G37 , work's good .
