My personal favorite Star Wars film.
As of March 3, 2025 I was still able to redeem the digital code. This movie great and depicts the Star Wars universe in a more serious light and feels a lot more fresh. Especially the CG and special effects. Rewatching Episode IV: A New Hope is difficult after Rogue One since the stark contrast in effects breaks the immersion for me. The practical effects were good for the time, but some have not aged as well as others. The laser blasts and lightsabers being among the worst offenders.I picked it up since it looks like Andor Season 2 will be setting up to fill the gap to the start of this movie. Andor + Rogue One will probably be the best adult Star Wars series that leads into the original trilogy.

Outstanding movie. Easily one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time
Easily one of my favorite Star Wars projects. Everything was done right. It also had cutting edge CGI to bring long gone familiar faces back to how they were/back to life. Highly recommend if you haven’t seen it. It’s not “necessary” to the Star Wars main saga, but they did an incredible job and nearly every character was memorable.

excited to have THE BEST stars wars movie, EVER, in 4k!!!
understand that the dvd is not region 1, ie: North America, but the 4k disc is NOT region locked at all. if the 4k disc is your primary interest, you can buy with confidence in North America, as long as you either don't care about viewing the blu ray, or have a player that can handle other regions.

A Must-See For All Star Wars Geeks
The story of Rogue One stems from Star Wars IV: A New Hope when the rebel pilots are briefed about the attack on the Death Star – remember? They learn about the fatal flaw built into the station that makes it vulnerable to a single X-wing fighter from information provided by Princess Leia.Flash to the opening sequence of Star Wars IV: A New Hope: Princess Leia’s ship is attacked and boarded by Darth Vader who is looking for the “secret plans,” which Leia gave to R2D2 to give to Obi-Wan Kenobi on the planet below. So how did Princess Leia come to possess the plans to begin with? From those two plot lines the writers of Rogue One have almost parenthetically created the story of how the knowledge of those plans was first obtained by a few reluctant rebels who recognize their importance, and then they steal them and fight to get them to the freedom-loving, democratic Resistance which has the means to exploit them. Edge-of-your-seat tension is achieved from start to finish of this story with the forces of the despotic, totalitarian Empire close on the heels of the two heroes (Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso and Diego Luna as Cassian Andor) who finally get them into Leia’s hands, only seconds ahead of Darth Vader’s ruthless pursuit. The story is very cleverly written and fills an opening in the Star Wars saga.A word about the music . . . Michael Giacchino reportedly had only 4 ½ weeks to score the entire film. The quotes I’ve seen have all struck the right tone and paid the proper respects but let’s face it – I miss John Williams. To mention just two points: Williams’ scoring always has theme music (a leitmotif) for each character, ala Peter and the Wolf – you could close your eyes and tell which character was on the screen just by the music. Also, the mood was quite a bit darker than Williams’ lighter, more lyrical touch. After Star Wars films I remember coming out of theaters humming some of Williams’ motifs. I have watched Rogue One 3 times now and the only melodies I remember are the recycled melodies Michael Giacchino borrowed from Williams. The body count is high on both sides, albeit bloodless, with storm troopers falling like Nazis in a Steven Spielberg movie. The festival of destruction starts when the Empire destroys an entire city with the first use of the Death Star, apparently just to see if it works, then continues until finally two of the Empire’s star destroyers (what is the ship’s complement of a star destroyer?) get destroyed by the Resistance fleet, which itself is losing cruisers and other craft like they have an endless supply.Life was cheap a long time ago in that galaxy far, far away – a galaxy in which, by the way, all the main characters spoke fluent American and fought for democratic ideals against an oppressive despotism. But it’s all in good fun with no gun control advocates or liberal politicians around to spoil the spectacle. In the end good defeats evil and that’s all that counts.

4ks are region free.
Glad I ordered this. I don't know if here in the U.S if they stopped pressing it. So I ordered this one for the 4k and took my blue ray disks and swapped those out from the other region ones.

it's easy to love this and the rest of the DisTarS library.; get over different and experience fun!
*updated*This is officially in my favorite star wars films sadly only one of the original one are. Episode Six. If you enjoy action graphics and a new more main character type of Force you will really enjoy the new universe Disney Lucas and Marvel are creating. Sorry old cannon fans but the sith Jedi force monopoly was like having two different oppressors you notice they both say they will bring and maintain peace, yet for most of the old galaxy the force and Jedi never touched 90% the top % of the republic mere meters below where the temple stands billions suffered even before the war. If their duty was to the republic and its people why were they involved with the senate, they were focused on the Republic as a whole. Not worried about collateral damage. Not worried about how they treated Ashoka despite Anakin's belief and the time they had known and seen her do extraordinary selfless things. Its time for the rest of the galaxy to geg a taste of the force.IMHO*spoilers*General worth watching opinion post Disney Starwars.PULLING PALPATINE OUT OF THE CLOSET too avoid another trio of movies bringing the saga to a close. I think they did the best they could with the film minutes available too honor the past and open the future of the franchise. All three movies are fun. I think the latest is the best and has a lot of fun force battles. Also cutting Carrie fisher out of the film, too please a few nerds sorry nothose minutesd thoes minuets on film. That was a proper funeral, we all should be so lucky. They are amazing fun if not cheesy and obviously moused down.. But disney is bringing us a new galaxy, far far away. One in which the force flows and is used by many but without the skill or Jedi or Sith.II hope too see more non light or dark force users, like in "Rebels", the Bentu. Partial users like Finn, Poe ,the storm troopers in " Return...Skywalker"who were all like Finn. I think so far they have managed not too destroy the franchise im enjoy clonewars lost season, S7.However Rebels, Solo, Rise Skywalker, Episode III are my favorite movies. If Clone wars series were exited into a movie and re animated at oixar level they could turn the cline wars into a two moview reboot...i mean it was a war how it conckuded in a film is amazing lol. Its hard too grasp the time scales... Death star 2 at yavin 4 was 30 years ago. And thats my take on all available new starwars media , if your not a stikler and dont wish they used all pupets n crap n had cut out Carrie then these are not for you. Otherwise def FUN, FOR the kid in you who still dreams AND ANY 12 PLUS WILL LOVE THEM, and the increasing use of the force is what ive always hoped for. Enjoy my Fellow fans
