Up All Night

6 months later, still not tired of it
I bought this CD in late August after giving in and asking my friend for song recommendations of theirs. While waiting for money to finally get their 2nd album as well, I listened to this CD all day and all night to the point I memorized the order of every single song on it (and I don't usually do that). And still today I haven't gotten tired of it, it's just so catchy. The only reason I haven't listened to it lately is because I finally got the 2nd album.Anyway...1. What Makes You Beautiful - Whether or not you like it, you know this song. The lyrics are a little iffy in my opinion. "When you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell you don't know you're beautiful. That's what makes you beautiful." Weird lyrics or not, the song is incredibly catchy and will make you dance (the first few times anyway :P).2. Gotta Be You - I always skip this track. Not because it's terrible, but because I watched this YouTube cartoon (The Adventurous Adventures Of One Direction? Maybe you've heard of it?) and it made me not be able to take the song seriously.3. One Thing - The 2nd single on the album. All about how the person they're singing to has one thing that they need, even though they have no clue what that "one thing" is. Extremely catchy.4. More Than This - 2nd ballad on the album. I love this song b/c their voices really shine and the lyrics are probably some of the best lyrics on the album.5. Up All Night - This is THE dance song on the album. I can never not dance to it. It's the catchiest and always puts me in a better mood once I listen to it.6. I Wish - Probably the most forgettable song on the album in all honesty. It's all about how they see their love with someone else and keep wishing it was them.7. Tell Me A Lie - My favorite on the album. They're trying to convince themselves that their love is leaving them for a reason other than "I found someone else", even though they know in their hearts that's the real reason.8. Taken - "Now that you can't have me, you suddenly want me." Kind of whiny and it's pretty much a Liam solo piece (with Harry on the chorus and Zayn on the bridge) but still pretty.9. I Want - The lyrics to this are pretty bad ("Don't you know that I can't stand when girls say 'I want, I want, I want, but that's crazy'") but if you just focus on the tune, you will be dancing so much you forget about the lyrics hopefully.10. Everything About You - The 2nd most dance-y song in the album (next to "Up All Night" of course). They're telling their love that the reason they want to be together with them is because of EVERYTHING about them, not just one specific reason. A really cute song.11. Same Mistakes - The fan favorite ballad on the album, and it's really deserving of that title. The lyrics are all about how they realize they're doing the same things over and over again and that can only lead to the same terrible ending they've been having but they don't know what else to do to make it right.12. Save You Tonight - "IIIIIII, I wanna save ya, wanna save your heart toniiiiiiight. He'd only break ya, leave ya torn apart, oh." Aren't those gorgeous lyrics? They really speak to me. Yeah, okayyyy 1D. / However, the tune is really catchy and this track is, in my opinion, one of the most underrated on the album.13. Stole My Heart - This on the other hand is one of, if not the most, overrated on the album. People act like this song is the most gorgeous piece in the universe and I like it, but it's definitely not as good as it's hyped up to be. That said, good song, just not as good as fans are making it sound.Bonus tracks!:14. Stand Up - Extremely dance-y and catchy. Compares their love to a stand up/robbery ("You can call me a theif, but you should know your part. I'm only here 'cause you stole my heart").15. Moments - Possibly the best slow song on the album. I mainly only got the deluxe version so I could own this song. Everything about this song is beautiful. From Liam's opening "shut the door, turn the lights down" to Zayn at the bridge "as I feel myself fall, make a joke of it aaaallll" this song is just one of the best songs you could ask for. I don't think anything could be done to make it better. As for the "yearbook", well, I won't lie, I was kind of disappointed when I opened it up and there were barely any pages. The pages there were were mostly facts I already knew and pictures I'd already seen. However, I'm glad I got it b/c the bonus tracks and owning this beautiful sounding album made it worth the lame "yearbook". Pick up this album if you haven't already. You won't regret it.

Surprisingly, this UK boyband is not half bad.
Well I did some research prior to buying this CD. So I was not surprised with the outcome. However, some may be surprised that an over 30 y.o. male would actually appreciate the music of some young UK boyband. However, this CD just has a vibe of good times. Hence, it makes sense that they named it "Up All Night". The stand out songs are of course, the break out hits include "What Makes You Beautiful", and "One Thing". However, the CD has more for the buck than that. The upbeat song "Tell Me a Lie" should definitely be a single too. However, they also have great flow and for me I believe two other songs from the CD could be singles too. They include "Taken" and "Same Mistakes" which were co-written by the five lads. I am big on if a group can write, so their future looks promising. However, I was disappointed that they only offered I think their best song "Moments" on a MP3 download. Overall, this is a great start for a bad that could have put out a mediocre CD, but they put out an epic one. May many others gets OneDirection infections. Kudos to the band individually too which consists of Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Luis Tomlinson and Niall Horan. My only request is that Niall and Luis can get more solos so that are five can sing on all the songs. That would make the band much different than all the other boy bands in the past.
