Wow, what a difference!
I bought this to replace a stovetop that suddenly stopped working and had no idea about Induction heating. It was easy to install but I chickened out and hired an electrician to hook it up for me. When we attempted to turn it on the first time, nothing happened! The Electrician told us it was faulty and I should send it back.I was so disappointed because its a beautiful unit and the price was such a good deal!I sat down and read the manual that came with the unit and thats when I discovered it was not the same type of stovetop that I had before. This stovetop heats ONLY metal pans that are magnetic. It will not turn on without a metal bottomed pan on the burner.Somehow the magnetic properties transfer heat super fast into the correct type of pan and water boils in seconds! When the pan is removed from the burner, it turns off instantly. What amazes me is there is very little residual heat on the unit that was red hot seconds before! This may be my favorite appliance in my entire house now and I am so happy that I did not return it when my Electrician told me it did not work.I would buy this item again and again its amazing!!*One thing I noticed is the included manual needs to sent to a better English proofreader by the items manufacturers. There are several hilarious errors in the grammar that should have been caught before the manual was printed and distributed.*I still love this cooktop and recommend it to everyone.

Induction or Electric? THAT is the question...Hmmmm
The media could not be loaded. The Empava looks nice and was easy to install. Great value...I guess. It's quite different than my electric cooktop and is taking me some getting used to. I've never cooked in an INDUCTION cooktop before this so I don't know if some of the characteristics it has are typical or specific to this brand. There is a humming noise that it makes when the "burners" are on which is very odd in the beginning. If you like to wipe down your cooktop as you go, this gets annoying because you have to be careful that you don't keep shutting it off while your cooking. I kinda miss being able to just wipe away on my old cooktop with knobs. Induction cooking is fast...water boils almost instantly for example. You must use induction friendly pots and pans though. Also, this unit has a built in timer which can be convenient.Hey, it cooks the food (shoulder shrug). I think it was a pretty good value but it's only been around 6 weeks so I will update this review if there's anything else I find is worth sharing ,)

Great product
This was our first induction stove top so we had no prior experience. Having read the reviews, this seemed like the best buy. After having had it for a month, I can report that this unit is spectacular. First, the installation was easily and quickly accomplished. The glass top is thick and is sturdy. But, the performance it really what we love about it. First, the safety features to prevent accidents are well designed. Everything that others have said about the speed of cooking and lack of wasted heat is true. It is also very easy to clean which is important to prevent buildup of difficult to remove debris. The only feature that could be improved is perhaps requiring a separate 2-step on-off switch for each element. As it stands, if one element of a zone is on, the others can be accidentally turned on by a simple touch. This is a minor issue. Overall, this is a great product and we highly recommend it.

Dead after 30 days!
I was initially impressed with the sleek design of the Empava Electric Stove Induction Cooktop—it looks great in the kitchen. However, my experience with it went downhill quickly. The unit worked fine for about 30 days, just long enough to be outside of both Amazon's and Empava's return windows. After that, it stopped functioning altogether, which was extremely frustrating.Even while it was working, there were issues. The touch buttons were finicky and often required multiple attempts to get them to respond. This became annoying, especially when trying to adjust the heat quickly. The fan was also quite loud, making it hard to enjoy a quiet cooking environment. The only positive aspect was that when it worked, the cooktop heated quickly and provided even heat distribution. Unfortunately, these few positives are overshadowed by the poor durability and functionality. I expected much better for the price, and now I'm stuck with a non-functioning unit. Very disappointing!

Love induction
I love induction. This is moderately priced and works perfectly. I chose it because it has good reviews.

Power use while off - 2 watts
Another review stated that the 12 inch cooktop used 49 watts while off. Not sure what might have been going on there but I used a Kill-a-watt to measure mine and it used between 2 and 3 watts while off.Anyway, I've only had it a month or so but I've been pretty impressed. My main concern was whether it would take a long time to boil a big pot since it's only 120v, but it has been faster than I ever anticipated.

Empava 36" Elec Induction Cooktop
The media could not be loaded. As far as induction cooktops go this is a bargain compared to what they cost in Lowe's, Home Depot, and Best Buy. I especially like there are no knobs, everything is flush & the unit looks very high-end. As you can see in the video mine seems defective - it makes a loud buzzing noise when the center burner is activated. Because of the price point I'm going to go ahead and give them another try; Amazon easily agreed to ship me a replacement. I also want to recommend a great set of induction cookware available on Amazon: "Granitestone Stackmaster Induction Cookware"My current rating is 4 stars but may go to 5 if the replacement cooktop is a home run or less if not.Update 2 July 2021: I received my replacement today. It make exactly the same loud buzzing electrical noises when the large center burner is set on temps 7, 8 or 9. (heat settings are 1-9) . As a result I have lowered my rating of this to 3 stars. I would return it but have already had a large hole cut into my granite to fit this unit. I plan to avoid using the large center burner - hopefully it lasts a while...
