Springbok's 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle The Cottage Lighthouse - Made in USA

My spouse and I enjoy assembling puzzles, and when I got this one for her, I expected certain things: 1. Springbok's 1000 piece puzzles are not small, so each individual piece tends to be large enough that the details of the texture on each piece can be easily discernible. 2. Springbok puzzles generally have very good colour reproduction. Too often, a lower quality puzzle will look washed-out compared to the image presented on the box. Springbok puzzles pass this test in general, which makes them both more visually attractive as well as less frustrating when sorting the pieces in preparation for assembly. 3. Many puzzle makers cut their puzzle pieces into a relatively small number of basic shapes. It has happened on some puzzles (I won't name the manufacturers) that I had 2 or 3 or more pieces that could fit into the same gap in the puzzle. If the colours are also similar, this can provide you with some annoyance and frustration. Springbok passes this test in a number of ways: a) the pieces of their puzzles are often conventionally-shaped, but more than a few are eccentrically shaped pieces that literally surprise and amuse when they are discovered; b) the good quality of the colours and texture usually make it easy to disambiguate which piece to use in those cases where the shape required seems "similar" for multiple pieces. 4) The puzzle pieces are sturdy cardboard, not flimsy. 5) The puzzle pieces interlock strongly, although sometimes you need 3 or more pieces to create that interlock because of those cases where the shapes and intersections of pieces are a bit eccentric. This means that you can, say, assemble a group of 8 or 10 pieces independently, then pick up the result as a unit and put it into the rest of the puzzle. 6) Springbok puzzle pieces are often a bit hard to get them to "lock" when inserting a piece. This means the lock is sturdy, but you are forced to push the pieces in a bit harder than you might expect. The only feature here that might be regarded as mildly negative is 6), but I am happy with it overall. And my spouse liked it, too.

I have always bought ravenburger puzzles, these are cheaper and just has challenging. The colors are vibrant, and fun to see the finished puzzle.

Great puzzle! But is was missing 2 end pieces! A little disappointed since it was brand new. There was a puzzle piece in the package that didn’t belong to the puzzle. That was very strange. If it wasn’t sealed or brand new I would have understood that. But I purchased it brand new. So I was a little disappointed. I like this brand because of the different puzzle piece shapes. Very challenging. This was a first for me to have missing pieces and a piece that didn’t belong to the puzzle.

I typically purchased white mountain puzzles, but couldn’t resist this one because we own springer spaniels. It was a fun puzzle, and pretty easy to assemble.

I gave The puzzle a 5 because it has a crazy fun cut design- no two pieces are the same! The picture is clear and vivid, however, the pieces are NOT cut with a laser, rather a very dull stamper/ cutter- leaving the edges rough and you need to really push & press the pieces down. At first it was annoying- then you get used to the pieces. If Springbok would invest in a laser cutter- their puzzle would get a 10!

Clear, vibrant puzzle that is almost impossible to force pieces together. Very poorly cut and many pieces were still partially or fully uncut upon arrival. I am still trying to get it together. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
