The Nightmare Before Christmas Tarot Deck and Guidebook

I LOVE this deck. The Nightmare Before Christmas Tarot is hands-down my favorite themed tarot deck, and I will defend it loudly while holding a cup of pumpkin spice something. The artwork is incredible. I already loved the artist’s work, and this deck absolutely delivers—stylish, expressive, and perfectly captures that spooky-whimsical Tim Burton magic without feeling lazy or slapped together. Every card feels thoughtful, clever, and genuinely fun to pull. It’s funny, punchy, and delightfully quirky, but it still reads surprisingly well. Somehow Jack Skellington can tell you hard truths without ruining your day. Even the heavier cards come with charm instead of doom, which is a rare talent. If you’re a fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas, this deck is a must. If you’re a tarot reader who loves themed decks done right, this is also for you. My other themed decks are great, but this one is the favorite—and it knows it. Five stars. Would buy again in a heartbeat. Now excuse me while I do another reading “just to look at the art.”

Gorgeous. Artwork and text are easy to follow into Jack Skellington’s world. A fun deck for the Halloween Season. As a collector of cards, this deck is exceeded my expectations. Easy to shuffle card stock much appreciated. Whether you’re a fan if the movie, or are unfamiliar with the characters, this is still an accurate deck. I’ve enjoyed a few insights it has given. Great gift for Halloween and Christmas.

“There’s only 365 days left until next Halloween!” – the Mayor When I saw that Abigail Larson was doing the art for a Nightmare before Christmas Deck I knew I had to have it. I am a huge fan of the movie and of Abigail's work. This is a full 78 card deck with both major and minor arcana. This deck is beautiful. Each card is unique and there are very few repeat characters. Jack and Sally are the most common repeat characters in the deck but that isn’t really surprising. There is one major change with this deck and that is the minor arcana suites. They have been changed to potions (cups), candles (wands), needles (swords), and presents (Pentacles). The potions and presents cards are probably my favorites from this deck (outside of the major arcana). The guidebook is 128 pages and discusses the meaning behind each card. It keeps with the Halloween Town theme throughout and really immerses the reader in this world. There is also a card spread section at the end of the book. The spreads are common ones found in guidebooks but they have put a spin on them to make them fit in this context, such as “Blown to Smithereens” spread. I only have two complaints with this deck. One is that the cards like to stick together which makes it hard to shuffle the deck. The other is that the artwork for the candle suit felt a little repetitive. This deck is perfect for fans of The Nightmare Before Christmas. I don’t think this would be a good everyday tarot deck but I do think it is a fun deck. It does take a little while to get used to the changes in suites but the guidebook is helpful. Overall, a fun and beautiful deck.

I’m gonna be honest, I got this mainly because of the low price point. My sister is just getting into tarot and was ready for her own deck (I’ve been doing tarot casually for about 20 years and have probably close to a dozen decks in my collection). We both love the movie, and I’ve always heard that it’s good luck to have your first deck gifted rather than buying it yourself, so I thought this would be a cute beginner deck for her. Let me tell you when she opened the package, we were both AMAZED. I’m not exaggerating when I tell your the artwork is STUNNING… like, I would tattoo this art on my body and carry it around with me forever if I could only pick a favorite card, but they’re all too freaking pretty. They fit in with my sis’s witchy aesthetic perfectly, are self-contained in a resuseable box, come with a thoughtfully written and accurately themed book (both to the movie and traditional tarot meanings), and everything is just really, really great quality. I love that the suits are changed to fit with the movie’s themes, but still retain authentic symbolism and interpretations of each card. This is felt really personally fitting for her (as someone who incorporates Christianity into her craft, she can be a tad uncomfortable/out of her element using more traditionally pagan symbols such as pentacles, etc). I did not research or read reviews like I normally do with online purchases; this was a rare impulse buy that just felt right and ended up completely exceeding my expectations. I’m convinced that I couldn’t have picked a better first deck for her even if I had a limitless budget… it was simply meant to be 💜🖤💜🖤

This is a great deck and the artwork is very beautiful. all the characters and lore of "TNBC"it makes great sense and I like that the guidebook is very easy to read and understand. This is a great deck and looks beautiful. Fun for any "TNBC" fan that is also a tarot reader or any fan of "TNBC" really. i would suggest this as a good gift or as a fun deck for yourself. The packaging is amazing and the cards look good both front and back.

First off I must say, their energy is playful but also direct. I connected to it instantly and enjoyed getting to know it for last day. The box came open without any plastic wrap on it. The box is nice and well made. I love the colors. The card stock is also sturdy and well made, it is easy to shuffle. The cards themselves have a velvety type texture which I really enjoy. The suits of Wands, Swords, Cups, and Pentacles have been replaced with Candles, Needles, Potions and Presents. The artwork being Nightmare before Christmas is also very different. I personally find this makes it harder for me as I have trouble connecting it with the RW deck that I learned tarot on. Example: 4 of swords is just 4 Needles on a card instead of a person resting. This to me is a personal opinion so I'm not faulting the deck for it. I only want to inform everyone incase it's not your thing either. The book is really cute and helpful. There are upright and reverse meanings along with the Fools Journey and some tarot spreads in the back. All in all a nice little deck that I will definitely be using around Halloween for my clients. Cards: Very thin and smooth but very sturdy and water-resistant. I'm not exactly sure what they are made of but they have a lot of snap and feel like they will hold up well. I had no trouble shuffling them, or no more then any other deck. Images: First I'm going to address the "Pip" thing. A pip is a series of identical shapes in a row to indicate a number. I don't see any "pips" in this deck. I see a verity of images of the suite in different circumstances and backgrounds. If I have any trouble with the meanings of any cards I will use the mini page markers to note a word prompt. Otherwise what I see is that a lot of care has gone into choosing the images that match the archetypes both old and new. The Book: The author did a very nice job maintaining the structure of The Tarot system while phrasing it in an original way that is solidly based in the Lore and Mythos of the tale told. Usage: I haven't had time to use this deck much but the cards i have flipped up have been spot on and exactly what needed to be said in the moment both for myself and others. This deck has been uncomfortably accurate for me with Very clear messages... startlingly so and to the point. Basic tarot is based in images from a thousand years ago, images that I don't necessarily relate to and who's meanings are not really clear to me. In this deck I have a great story with relatable archetypes and even with no understanding of the mythology and the archetypes I can intuitively understand these cards from this story. I've seen decks that try to Modernize the images and message but this deck does it for me in spades (or needles in this case), this isn't just an old deck dressed up with a different slant and copy and paste meanings. A lot of thought went into this deck.
