Thick Dye
I use this product to thicken water or dye for tie dye purposes. This is a great use for this product, and will help me experiment with dye techniques. My first attempt was not a success but the sodium alginate worked perfectly at creating a thickened consistency. I definitely recommend this brand for anyone purchasing for tie dye supplies

not work
I bought Pure Sodium Alginate and Pure Calcium Lactate to make boba, and it was totally different from what I imagined. I tried it many times, and it tasted weird.

Doesn't dissolve in water
Tried dissolving in water at the rate of 2 tsp per liter, mixed with a spoon, wouldn't work. Tried an immersion blender, still didn't dissolve. Didn't think we had calcium in our tap water, but went out anyway and got distilled water. Still didn't work. Asked the vendor what was up, they said I needed a high-sheer blender, so went to town. Put distilled water in a ninja blender, turned on, added this product while running (through pour spout, which can be opened during operation), ran for a good five minutes, and still did not dissolve. Kids were excited to make boba. We left the mixture in the blender, ran it several times per day for several days, never dissolved. A cloudy collection of fine particles settles to the bottom of the blender and never dissolves. Consumers should be pretty concerned about what is in this product, cuz it ain't what they say it is. UPDATE: bought and received sodium alginate from another brand on Amazon, was a completely different ball game, dissolved as it should, immediately formed a gel, had to wait for the bubbles to rise and was good to go.
