Overall, this is a great speaker for its purpose and price. I spent a lot of time looking at reviews of speakers to find the right one for me because I like to just buy once and make sure that my purchase is as close to the best bang for my buck as I can get. I believe I will be happy for years to come with my reasoning below.Sound Level:::It produces plenty of sound so that you can bring it into large rooms and even outdoors if you so choose. If you bring it somewhere that there is a lot of other noise, I would think it would eventually get drowned out but it could handle a small pool party or a quiet spot on a beach. I use it in the shower or in my living room and kitchen. In the shower, I definitely do not have to turn it up very much before it is uncomfortable to listen to, which is good. In the living room and kitchen areas of my apartment, I turn it up to about medium-loud and it can be heard throughout the rest of the house at a decent level. Obviously the higher the quality of music you are playing will also affect how loud you can get this to play.Sound Quality:::The treble(highes) on the speaker are very nice which is usually not hard to accomplish. The bass(lows) on the other hand are difficult to produce and this speaker does what I would qualify as decent. I didn't go into this expecting the best bass I have ever heard and did not get that. It has a nice little punch noise to the bass and you can definitely hear it hitting so it is good enough. For the price of this speaker, I think this is about the best you will do in the bass department or close to and hence the 5 star rating.Battery:::The battery life is very nice. I have not actually played it straight from full charge to dead but it lasts a very very long time between charges and does not seem to drain while not in use since I have let it sit for a week or two without use and is ready to be turned on anytime.Bluetooth Range:::The Bluetooth range is pretty good. If you go through walls, it cuts out much quicker which is normal. Again, I did not directly test the distance this speaker can reach for Bluetooth but if I had to guess, it can probably go at least 20 feet without walls in between and about 10 feet at least with a wall in there. All of that is probably cutting it short but it's a reference to start with.Water Resistance:::I have had this speaker in my shower where it is in moist air for an extended amount of time and then when I shut the shower off, water drips onto this speaker directly from the shower head. There have been no problems with the water hurting anything. I always make sure that the plugs are covered by the water-proofing seal and it seems good to go.Usage:::The overall ease of use for this device is nice as well. I bought one of these for my father-in-law who is 65 years old and not super up to date with his technology. I showed him how to use the Bluetooth on his phone and how to turn this speaker on and he can now do it all by himself without trouble or confusion. That to me is a big deal and makes me very happy I was able to get him a speaker like this.I hope this helps. If you aren't sure, just give this speaker a try and you will probably be delighted. After reading a number of good reviews on the OontZ 3 , I decided to try one. The price was low enough to take the risk and so I gave it a shot. When the package arrived, the box was rather small and I thought it was perhaps the wrong item because no speaker system that received such great reviews could possibly come in such a small box ! I was even more surprised when I opened the box to find the item exactly as the image portrayed in the ad and started to laugh thinking that there couldn't be so many people that believe this thing could possibly do what they said it would. I figured for the price it wasn't even worth it for me to send it back so I decided to have some fun with the little thing. Plugged in my Sony MP-3 player and fired it up as the unit did come partially charged. Instructions were easy enough to follow as the diagram clearly showed what every button and indicator light would do as well as the inputs for non wireless items and usb charging. I initially kept the volume low so as not to destroy the little thing right off but quickly discovered that increasing the volume did not bring about any distortion ! The clarity, fidelity of sound was amazing ! OK, so it wasn't as loud as the Bose but... I had it outside on my deck and my brother and I could feel the bass vibrations in the decking boards ! My wife came home while we were now "blasting" this thing and asked me to turn it down so we could speak ! She was totally blown away by what it could do and how clear it sounded. Next was to try the blue tooth side for my cell phone in the car to see how well it would perform as a hands free speaker system. Yet again it was outstanding ! This thing is so amazing sounding and SO portable, it's easier to move around than the Bose or any other player we have. It just replaced all of them because it takes up virtually no room at all... can be placed just about anywhere, even hidden from view and fill the area with great fidelity no matter what you are playing. I tested it with a variety of recordings to see if there would be any discrepencies in the sound quality. Clannad, The Doors, Motown, Jimi Hendrix, Moody Blues and many others all performing and sounding fantastic ! I use it on my patio when friends are over and can simply pickup the speaker and MP-3 player with one hand and move it to the kitchen counter.... the dining room for background music, etc... "They" say it's great for college dorms and I'm sure it is but it goes well beyond the dorm my friends ! My brother is ordering one to use with his laptop as an external monitor... again... so much more space saving than his old conventional monitor. It doesn't have a powered sub woofer but he said the bass is more than sufficient from such a tiny, portable unit ! We made comparisons to other systems... called it the working mans Bose and even made jokes that it was designed with "alien technology"... who knows ? Mebbe ? The engineers at Cambridge did a magnificent job on this one and even though it is built in China, you will NOT second guess the quality of this item ! I will be ordering a few more as gifts before someone realizes what a winner this is and the price starts to skyrocket or they become back ordered for a year due to demand !! Can I say more ?? Probably ! But I will simply end with this one closing remark.... "BUY ONE AND SEE" !
