How did I live without this???
Received this pole this afternoon. Already had the head that goes on it. Pulled the pole out of the box, screwed on the head, and got to work removing cobwebs and dust in my skylights and on my cathedral ceilings. It is very, very sturdy, easy to extend, and makes quick work out of what I used to TRY to do on a ladder. Truthfully, I never reached the tops of the skylights before, but this pole when extended left no dust or web out of reach. I don't usually write reviews, but this extension pole is worth every penny they ask for it, and you will wonder how you ever lived without it.

Otherwise a great pole and a surprisingly good price
Mine came with a very bent tip, the aluminum just before the plastic at the top... Still usable, but not if you wanted it to pivot together. Otherwise a great pole and a surprisingly good price.

worked fine...for 3-4 years, then pole failed
seemed like good construction, but it wasn't more than 3-4 years, with pretty light, infrequent use, that the locks meant to hold the telescoping sections in place just loosened and then stopped working at all. So no more telescoping -- which makes it pretty useless for anything higher than 8 feet or so. For $65 for a pole I expected better. So when I look for a replacement, I won't be looking at Unger -- which is also sold at the Big Orange Box store.

18-Foot Extension Pole
I have 20-foot ceilings in a loft style apartment and wanted something where I could easily reach all those nooks and crannies that attract dirt and dust. This pole is very sturdy, easy to extend and collapse, and locks tightly in place. It's a little on the heavy side once fully extended but when it is fully extended, it's still very sturdy, doesn't flex much, and I don't feel like I'm in a balancing act. It's got an attachment at the top of the pole that can support just about another other attachment out there that has a screw fitting or the double push pegs. It was worth the few extra dollars to get this sturdy aluminum pole and am really happy that I bought it. Would recommend to anyone that has high places to reach!

Aluminum Extension Pole
I used this with my squeegee but it proved to be much to heavy to reach the top of my roof line. I wanted to clean the siding around the windows. My house is brick but the trim is siding and gets very dirty with the pollen, etc. I managed to use it some but not as much as I needed.

So glad it is here.
I was getting pretty depressed about the cobwebs and dust in the windows and ceiling fan of my new house! I am SO glad to have found this. It worked really well for the first wave of cleaning. I also purchased the ceiling fan attachment and cobweb duster, both worked out really quite perfectly to get the job done. I can also use it to dust the baseboards a bit without getting on the floor. A nice bonus application. The pole is pretty sturdy, it is certainly strong enough to do what it is supposed to do. As stable as an 18 foot pole might be if you have to consider the extensions, light weights for sliding poles, etc. Unger Industries/InCom 960280 Cobweb Duster Unger Industrial Microfiber Ceiling Fan Duster 962660

Stable, sturdy and safe
Background I just moved into a house, and I saw that the previous owner or renter had left some bulbs for me to replace. Unfortunately, the ceilings are 26 feet tall and I have an 8 foot ladder. I proceeding to buy a telescoping ladder but it is not intended for indoor use. So I had two options: 1) Pay someone to put up 18 light bulbs or 2) Do it myself. Construction This is a lightweight and comfortable extension pole to handle overhead. I have had other extension poles to change lights in the past, but most of the lesser quality extension poles were not quite straight or imbalanced for lightbulb work. In fact, one was so imbalanced the bulb fell to the floor. Using a ladder in conjunction with the Flood Changer, I was able to change my light bulbs easily. First of all, it's straight. Next it is sturdy and stable. There is one joint that allows the pole to open to full extension. The tip of the pole is removable for other attachments. The spring loaded design of the Flood Changer allows a seamless transition. Use Adjusting the appropriate length is rather easy to do, though I wouldn't recommend doing it on the fly. I'm looking forward to other applications such as cleaning windows, for example. Conclusion I'm very pleased with the Unger extension pole. It's easy to use. Two thumbs up.

No directions! Prepare to practice before using to avoid breaking.
A good idea but deficient in a few respects: First of all - no directions - none. Thus, it is important to guess correctly on how the device works as regards where to pull when trying to extend either the second or third inner poles (3x6'=18'). I don't include the idiot label about not using it to move live power lines or the advertising label about options you can buy as directions. Hopefully the $0.25 that Unger saved in not including directions went straight to the bottom line! Second, the clamps rely on small plastic parts - over tighten and they break as I found out on my first one, in part, due to the lack of directions. My second one arrived with the most inner tube jammed into the middle tube so tight it took me a while to figure out how to free it once I was absolutely certain I had loosened the proper tightening clamp. Third, the end piece, where parts may be attached comes off easily until you decipher how to squeeze the black ring to attach it securely. Yes, there is something like directions embedded into the plastic there but it was unclear to me how to implement them. I suggest taking some time prior to using it to carefully practice how to tighten/loosen and extend/secure the pole. Learning while trying to do a job is a certain route to breaking it unless you have plenty of patience, not a strength of mine! Good luck. Tom
