Solved My Problem Perfectly
I purchased a brand-new computer and thought the new computer would be a perfect pairing to my one-year-old LCD HDTV I was using for a monitor on my old computer. The video card on my old computer had a HDMI port, so it was a simple matter of plug and play. When I unpacked my new computer, I was quite upset to discover that it only had VGA and DVI outputs. I thought the DVI interface had fallen by the wayside, and after spending time using a computer with a 1080p display, there was NO WAY I was going back to VGA. I panicked. What was I to do?Then, on a whim, I did a little searching on Amazon, and found these fantastic adapters. This was truly the answer to my prayers. As soon as they arrived in the mail, I inserted the adapter, tightened the screws, plugged in my HDMI cable, and booted the new computer. Lo and behold, I was back in business! As others have noted, DVI signals differ from HDMI in one major aspect: DVI does not carry the audio signal like HDMI does. This did not matter to me, as I patch my computer's audio through a surround sound receiver and home stereo speakers, and as a result, I already had an audio cable connecting my sound card to the stereo. I can see how some people that lack computer knowledge or didn't know how to research the "conversion" from DVI to HDMI would be disappointed in not having audio on their HDMI-equipped device. If you are one of those individuals that would be running audio through your HDMI-equipped HDTV, there are other adapters here on Amazon that include an "Audio In" jack alongside the DVI input so you can have audio directly to your TV. If this is your case, or your preference, I recommend that you purchase that special adapter instead.Other reviewers have noted the thumbscrews are difficult to tighten. I can definitely concur with that opinion. They are difficult to tighten, and do not have slots for a flat-edge screwdriver as some computer cables do. If this bugs you, I suggest you remove the thumbscrews from these adapters and replace them with virtually any computer cable that does have them, as the screws themselves have a universal thread pattern - as long as they are the proper length, they are interchangeable. You can probably pick up an old computer cable at your local Goodwill store or at a tag sale and swap them over; or you can simply plug it in without tightening the screws (or use a decent set of pliers to tighten them) and you should be OK.One thing to note: HDMI is still a fairly new technology, the connectors are far from perfect. If you experience an odd picture, with static or weird colors, simply unplug and re-plug the HDMI cable at both ends to ensure a good connection.

These DVI male to HDMI female adapters work as expected
So far these DVI male to HDMI female adapters work well for connecting laptop with HDMI to an older monitor that only has a DVI port. The monitor is only 720p but I don't notice any degradation in picture quality.

Great for your monitor to free up the space for a VR
I was amazed that this cane with two for the price, first of all, and second of all, it is great to use for your monitors. I use this for my gaming monitor since I only have 1 hdmi slot, with 3 display ports, it works fantastically to free up the space for my oculus rift. There was no issues from the start, and it has worked great for over a year, and I still have the other adapter that has been unused. I tried a DisplayPort to HDMI cable from bestbuy, but it can’t fit with my case when trying to plug it into my graphics card, so this was a way better solution. It is sturdy, it has gold, and unless your dumb, it will not break ( but you still have an extra)

They get the job done
They get the job done and they do what I needed them to do. Would have been better if they had groves so you could screw them in with a flat head screw driver. If you have two DVI ports right next to each other (ie on a GPU) it can be difficult to screw them in if you have larger fingers. They strip out HDCP over a HDMI switching network which is why I got them. (DVI sources to HDMI switch) which is good. Its just one less thing in the hand sake when switching between input sources.

Adapters Suffice, But Have Poor Design
These are standard quality adapters. They do the job that they are designed to do. The only issue I have is with the design of the screws that secure the connector to the display device. The heads of the screws are particularly small, and also lack any sort of screwdriver slots. So you're forced to either try and screw in the small screws by hand, or leave the connection unsecured. They could have easily included screws that had regular or Phillips head screwdriver slots.Unless you cannot find alternative adapters, of which there are many choices, then these adapters will suffice. But the screw head design prevents me from recommending this product.

Perfect adapters used to connect 2 servers to a DVI KVM
I had a total brain gaffe when I bought and pulled HDMI cables to use for connecting my servers in the basement to my office KVM. I had previously used DVI-to-HDMI cables, so I needed to convert one end of the HDMI cable to DVI (or have to return the HDMI cables and re-pull different cables to the basement). Curiously enough when I tried to use an HDMI coupler and connected a DVI-HDMI cable to the HDMI cables I pulled, I could not get 1080p signal, with these adapters, no such issues. I am able to use full 1080p with no issues.
