Dell PowerEdge R630 8-Bay SFF Server 2X E5-2640v3 2.60Ghz 16-Core 64GB RAM (Renewed)

When I was looking at this server I thought that it might need a little work, like a general cleaning of dust and a replacement on the thermal paste. However I was pleasantly surprised to find that everything was spotless except for some dust in the fans (which it is hard to get those small fans clean). As far as the thermal paste goes i was surprised to find it in good condition, however I do still recommend replacing it yourself as who knows how old the paste is. All in all I would say that this is a great server for your home and maybe even small business, would highly recommend.

Everything exactly as stated in specs. Server was also in great cosmetic condition with IDRAC and all firmware at latest revisions. Truly ready to go. Does not come with any drives and no space for m.2. I installed 8 2.5 SaaS drives, Installed TrueNas Scale with running Jellyfin, and 11 game servers in containers. only using about 8 cores max and 30is GB mem. plenty of room to spare. Makes a great home lab with minimal investment. Between it and drives, total cost was around $315. Can't get any better deal than price to value. Be prepared though, this thing is huge. not going to be hiding it anywhere easily and it will sound like a fighter jet taking off when you first turn it on.

I was surprised that it arrived with no hard drives. I looked back at the advertisement and it didn't say it had hard drives. I think it would help if you specifically mentioned no HDs.

Using it for Proxmox. The raid card handles disks without having to set them in bios so zfs works out of the box. Works with pci-passthrough but only has two slots. If you're looking for a graphics card for Plex, the Intel arc310 works nicely.

Purchased 2 box’s, probably going to purchase about 8 more over the next few months, both are in good condition and super happy with what I got. Loads of performance for such a great price.

The return process is awful. I have not heard anything from the seller. I have contacted Amazon twice, and all they do is BS me and wait for an email from the vendor. I am extremely DISAPPOINTED with Amazon and this vendor regarding returning the server. The server came packaged well. It was spotless, with no issues. I installed MS Windows Server 2022, and it runs great. I also installed two 1TB hard drives. Unfortunately, I have a small rack in my home office, and my rack is too small to support the depth of the server adequately. I asked to return it, and I am waiting for a reply. I recommend buying this server confidently.

No HDD or SSD not bad for the price

For less than 1k I got this server completely decked out with two 2.6ghz 10 core processors, 128gb ram and I worked some magic and got an Asus NVMe hyper card in there with 4 nvme ssd drives. I'm still working on exactly how I'm going to raid them, but I know it's possible with this server. It has all the right pieces between chipset and bios bifurcation and intel raid on board. I'll post again once I get that last detail sorted. All flash sever with 20 cores and 128gb ram for less than 1k. You can't beat that.

The machine is in pristine condition and good value. Expect to spend more on the parts to make it complete. (I had to buy drive caddies along with the drives (which was expected) and upgraded the CPU and Memory.) Nicely doing the job I bought it for.

Right off the bat I want to say that the iDRAC password was not reset, so be sure to have a VGA capable monitor on hand so you can reset the system to factory settings. Not sure why, but I didn't have one. Oops. So far, zero problems. I bought a server, I received a server, it had good packaging, it works as expected, and I am satisfied with my purchase.

Best deal i've seen in a long time for a R630. The server arrived faster than expected. Great condition for a used machine. Has already taken its places and one of my more reliable cluster servers.
