Did the job on my e46 front control arm bushing!
This thing is amazing!!! I had to use this for my e46 front control arm bushing. Attached bellow is a picture of the completed repair. As you can see, rather than it being a standard hole in a piece of metal with threads, it is a dowel poking up. This means I could not use the countersink bit as the countersink size would be wider than the dowel so I would just shave down the top part. So, I skipped that step. On the actual timesert, there is a lip on one side, so when its fully inserted the lip of the timersert sits inside of the repression you are supposed to make (I could not) and stops. i ground down that flange fully so it was a cylinder without the lip. I was slightly concerned that now it would not stop and seat properly, but it did. So if you have an e46 and the front control arm bushing threads are messed up, I would highly recommend doing this! At least try it before making the screw bigger. There is a great writeup on e46 fanatics, "Successful Control Arm Bushing Mount Stripped Thread Repair Method-2002 325i sedan". Threads seem pretty durable now that they are in, and definitely threaded in smoother and easier than the regular hole

Very good product
One of the best type of thread repair kits you can get. Get it done right instead of fussing around with inferior methods.

NOT for starter holes.
This kit works wonderfully. I made the mistake of ordering it for my 6.5L Detroit Diesel's M10x1.5 starter holes and later realizing they make a kit specifically for starter holes, because starter bolts are NOT regular grade bolts: they have a knurled area to minimize starter movement. The recommended Time-Sert starter hole kit for M10x1.5 starter is #1380 and it's different than this one because it has a stepped drill to make the pocket for a knurled sleeve (included in kit) for the starter bolt knurled area that sits flush and against the starter mating surface. This sleeve is part #EN-42385-67 and you will need to buy it, along with a 0.5 inch drill, and the means to use it to precisely drill to a 10mm depth, if you, like me, bought this instead of kit #1380. Kit #1380 says it's for aluminum engine blocks, though, and that is the main reason I chose not to purchase, because 6.5L blocks are iron, and thought the drill bit wasn't up to the task, although I know better now. Along with additional 20mm inserts, I ended up spending almost as much as the cost of the #1380 kit and extended the project for about a month. Do the right thing, buy the correct kit and get finished in an hour.

This proved more difficult on the one with the broken easy out! Countersunk it with the included tool
These are a LIFESAVER if you snap a bolt off somewhere important. For me it was the cylinder head of a Caterpillar 3126b diesel engine while trying to change exhaust manifold gaskets, 7 of the 12 bolts snapped. I stupidly tried easyouts, snapped one of those and then found these. Center punched the bolts, started with small pilot bit, then used bigger and bigger until the hole was the right size. This proved more difficult on the one with the broken easy out! Countersunk it with the included tool, tapped it, inserted the collar and expanded it with the other tool. It is VERY easy to pick up how to do this, and VERY VERY satisfying to do one successfully. I have driven 3,000 miles since that happened, and the bolts I used these on hold up a 40 lb turbo and a big log manifold. No leaks as of yet and I don't anticipate any for a long long time. Don't let the price put you off, it is worth every penny if you are in a situation like I was.

Good quality
Used it to fix at least 14 threads so far, performed well, still good like new.

Steep cost for less than perfect.
These are quality tools. They should be for paying $100+ for what essentially is a custom tap set. But the set should be perfect for this price but it's not. I did the best I could to align the tap correctly and still got the insert slightly crooked, causing an oil leak. I then had to dremel the insert lip that was sticking out to stop the leak. Time Sert has made tap guides in the past and they should include them in all their kits. I used ratchet and sockets to drive the bits. For some reason, they've machined all the square ends slightly different sizes so I had to use 3 different sockets. Just machine them all to one size for convenience. Most people use these for oil drains, so it's very crucial that you grease the bits so you can keep the shavings from entering the pan. I did this (and flushed the pan with fresh oil) and I still find aluminum shavings inside on my last oil change. Time Sert instructions don't mention these precautions at all, and they should. Last gripe is the price. For a non-mechanic like me, spending 100 on a tool I need only once is a steep cost. Time Sert better pray China doesn't start making knockoffs of these, or they'll be losing most people that fall into this category.

Easy to use, but a bit expensive.
These saved my calipers!! A bit expensive for what it is, though the kit is incredibly handy and very easy to use especially if you have some sort of background. I would consider it more of an "advanced" tool, depending on what you're using it for. I wish the price wasn't so high, but it saved me from buying new Brembo brake calipers so I'll take the win.

I used these to secure bolts into a motorcycle crankcase and they worked great.
