Hampton Nautical Solid Brass Black Desk Compass with Rosewood Box, 3", Brass

Nice Wooden Box! The compass was cute, but we bought this to use the nice little wooden box for another purpose.

I'm returning it, not because I made a mistake in buying it, but it didn't meet my expectations. The box was really nicely crafted and you could tell that it was put together by hand (a unique and interesting quality), however, the compass was broken. When I opened the box, the compass had dislodged from its seat (the adhesive that holds it down was not strong enough) and its face was stuck to the top of the box. When I managed to peal it off the top of the case, the wood left the glass and metal frame stained and unappealing. The compass needle was not level on the center pin. With each pivot, it seemed to scraped against the black base plate.The cardboard box it came in seemed unscathed and the other items that the larger box contained were also unscathed. It seems the compass was not damage in shipping, but left the inventory room defective.Other than that I think it would have been a great gift. This was suppose to be a graduation gift, but now I'm going to have to rush to look around to see if I can find a hand held compass the looks this nice (what I planned on buying before I saw I noticed the nice picture).

This was just as i had hoped. great product, This is the perfect gift idea for anyone you wish to send off to college or on a trip of soul searching.

Horrible purchase which I sent back. The hinge on the wooden box was deformed and it did not close right and it was rusted. The compass did not work. It just bobbed around whichever way. I do not recommend.

This showed up and the compass was completely shattered.
