Used about half so far. I think that it covers much better than Kiltz. Too thick to spray on but rolled on and it did a good job

When we set about restoring a 100-year-old farmhouse in a region where weather is often a home improvement deal-killer, we knew we were in for an uphill climb. There are many homes in the area of similar age and condition, and the usual restoration method generally involves vinyl siding. Although it's fine for some, we just didn't like the look or feel of it, and were determined to salvage the solid cedar.Paint was never the problem. There are many varieties and several manufacturers producing quality products that, if properly applied, will last for years, even under the extremes of heat and cold that we so often face. The main concern was finding a really decent primer that was worthy of the paint we'd be applying. This was always the weak link in the chain. We experimented with different brands in a wide price range, and finally found the perfect alternative.Out of desperation, we tried Zinsser's 1-2-3, and we were hooked. Now, we'd never consider another primer. It has satisfied every requirement. You couldn't ask for more. It goes on smoothly, covers in one coat, adheres really well, and holds up under any weather conditions. It takes the topcoat better than any primer we have ever used, and it lasts and lasts. There is no more important painting element than the primer. If the primer fails, everything fails, and with 1-2-3, failure isn't an option. It even cleans up easily, a big plus after a long day on a ladder.You do need to invest some time early on to reap the benefits, so plan to do a lot of careful stirring when you first open the can. This has very thick solids in a very watery solution, so go slowly. Lift and fold with your paint stick. Keep blending until you no longer detect a gooey residue at the bottom; you're trying for one smooth, consistent emulsion. Save the "'round and `round" technique for last, and even then go carefully.The unused primer has a really long shelf life, but you'll need to have a pristine lid and an immaculately clean rim. When you start painting, you'll be glad you took the time to do things right. You'll be even happier a year down the road, when you pop the top off the can and find you still have mint-condition primer.We've gone through a lot of cans in the course of our restoration efforts, and every one has been a Godsend. Thanks to Zinsser's 1-2-3, our old house has a new lease on life. The cedar siding is well protected, and it always looks freshly painted. It's made a 100-year-old house look new. We couldn't be more pleased.

Great primer. We used it to paint PVC walls and after 2 layers of Primer the 'normal' paint looks great!We have also used it on out (sheetrock) ceiling as the finishing layer. The previous owner smoked 24/7 and this primer covered those stains (and contained the smell) within 2 layers!Very happy i bought this!
