It works…
Started out that I ordered this product because My couch recliner part doesn’t have a spring and this one was pictured without a spring. Buuut when I received it, it had a spring… Well, decided to install it anyway… NOTE: 1. It works! Buuut make sure you feed it through the top first, not from underneath because the part you screw in might not fit through the space before snapping the clip into its place…ANYWAY, even though I couldn’t get mine all the way through…it still works! Thank you!

This little guy saved my ruined recliner sofa! BUT they don't last long
UPDATE: This is the 3rd time I've had to replace these handles in 5 years. I have an Ashley curved couch with a recliner on each end. I live by myself, so it's not like I abuse them or anything - since I'm the one who has to replace these handles, I try to be careful when pulling on it. The frail cable wire next to the plastic handle is just made up of several tiny wires twisted together. It eventually frays down to one wire, then pop! the handle comes off. Once the tiny wires fray, they turn into little needles poking you in the thigh. So it just doesn't last long -- about 1-2 years, in my case. I'm removing one star because they don't last long, and they're kind of a pain to replace when you're a 55 year old with arthritis and bad knees!*********ORIGINAL REVIEW:When I broke the release handle on my recliner sofa, I thought I had a ruined my 1-year-old $2000 Ashley sectional sofa. However, when I mentioned the problem to my furniture dealer, he said he could order the part and fix it for $100. Ok, that's not bad, but if he could fix it, then I should be able to! And what do ya' know, good ol' Amazon had the exact part I needed. It wasn't that bad to install -- you just need a metrics ratchet wrench to get the screws on/off, and a little patience. I'm a 50-year-old woman, and I was able to install it myself. Girl Power! Thanks Amazon -- you saved my sofa from being ruined, and saved me $85 by fixing it myself!

Great value
I had to relocate the holes due to being farther apart. It also came with a spring on the end with the z hook which the one I replaced didn't and it still works with or without.

Original part with couch lasted 4 years, this lasted ...
Original part with couch lasted 4 years, this lasted 3 years. Unfortunately this type of part does not have a long life span and continually needs to be replaced. 4 stars because it lasted 75% as long as manufacturer's original part.

i did it
This product was super easy to use. I installed two in under 15 mins. Although I didn't have a place to anchor the diamond shape piece near the handle they work perfectly. I am so glad I followed the instructions of a previous review to measure first; I almost ordered the wrong size. Wooo Hoooo
