The Great Kapok Tree: A Tale of the Amazon Rain Forest

Children love this story and understand the basic premise (the importance of preserving the beauty of the natural world and our environment). I highly recommend this book. It has beautiful illustrations and a great storyline.

A lot of words but great book

I read this book to my children over twenty five ago. Just bought it for my first grandchild and it’s even more relevant today! The illustrations are beautiful and each picture tells its own story. Will definitely purchase again.

What a beautiful and powerful book! I teach a combined class of 1st and 2nd-grades. I used this book to teach interdependence and conservation. The pictures are amazing! The message is delivered in a lovely way easy to understand by my age group but it's still interesting to older kids as well.

Vivid art work and a great story to interest kids of all ages. I actually found that my middle school students loved this book when I was teaching. I recently bought it for my 5 year old niece as it was such a favorite of mine. She loved the pictures and story, but think she will get more out of the story as she ages.

Great book to teach children the value of trees, and the coexistence of everything in nature

Lovely book, great message & illustrations. You can read it calmly & softly as the animals one by one whisper in the man's ear telling him why he shouldn't cut down the tree using a different voice for each creature. Nice book to lull a child to sleep & had quite a profound effect on my 8 yr old with regard to looking after our planet for future generations (they had read it at school) definitely a 'keeper' to be passed down. The Learning Tree is a book I had years ago as a child explaining how we should look after our planet, not drop litter etc (which you probably can still find) & was impacting on both my children too.

A nice story including loads of information to even tell the little ones and the teenagers in class about the tropical forests! A must have!

My children absolutely adore this book. We live a very healthy, conscious lifestyle and this books is ideal to accompany our lifestyle - it answers many questions as to why we do or not do certain things and makes children aware, without shocking them, about what is going on and that we have to take care of nature!
