These are ideal for replacing the old rubber washer type valves. It says a pair and l thought they would turn off the same way, but were opposite which was a bit confusing to start with.

There is nothing to dislike about this product..! There are so many replacement ceramic 1/4 turn tap cartridges on the market so make sure you buy the correct on for your tap. This one appears to fit many standard taps according to the reviews. What I particularly liked was the ability to change the direction of turn for opening and closing the tap valve - not all valves can do this. I personally like the water to flow when I turn the tap in an anti-clockwise direction and shut when turned in a clockwise direction. If you want to change the direction of your 1/4 turn ceramic taps, I have done my best to show you how this can be achieved with the aid of 2 photographs. First you have to take out the valve. Then ease off the bottom section of the valve to expose the 2 ceramic parts which open and shut the valve as the tap head is turned. I have drawn a line across the small ceramic tile in the closed position. With a pair of tweezers I have lifted and turned the tile through 90 degrees and replaced it. The line is now vertical and you can see that the valve is in the open position. The result is that the tap head rotation is now reversed for opening and closing. As I said, not all valves can be changed in this way. I do hope this has been helpful.

My mixer kitchen tap has been dripping for a few weeks and after many visits to local DIY suppliers and plumbing merchants, I had no joy. Apparently there are literally hundreds of these cartridges for taps now and people can’t stock them all. I eventually found the closest looking one on here (my photos are of my tap, the old one and the new one just for reference) Luckily I read all the reviews on here first because a couple of helpful people explained that although they fitted perfectly, the red one has to go in the cold tap or else the on/off setting will be wrong and they were correct. I’m not a plumber or a DIY person at all, but I watched a YouTube video on how to change it, got my dad to watch me to do it incase I completely messed up and then I have it a go. Tap has stopped dripping, I still have the ‘blue’ one incase the hot tap starts dripping and I’m delighted that it only cost £10 to fix my tap. Measure it all up first, and give it a go. It’s worth it.

As mentioned by others hot and cold are reversed, only changed the hot and the knob does not align correctly also a very tight fit on the shaft and is catching on the tap body, should have paid twice the price and got original Franke spares. Not to mention getting fleeced £4.99 postage in a card envelope!

Having checked the precise size of these beforehand they seemed to be the same as the ones that I was replacing except for the screw thread at the top of the body - which, as it turns out, isn't important in my instance. Replacement was done in a few minutes and they are working well. The only thing that was wrong was that the colour washers indicating hot or cold were reversed but this is easily remedied by swapping them over.

I bought theses as had a leaking tap. Be sure to measure your insert before ordering as there are quite a few different sizes. I could not get the exact size so I got the closest I could and hoped it would fit to my amazement it did the only thing is that I had to use the cold insert in the hot side as the lever on the tap would be in the wrong position for on and off, other than that all good.

Bottom seal on Tap Cartridges were the wrong way round Red should have been on cartridge that turned to the left for hot tap so I had to use the one with the Blue seal on the hot tap and the one with the Red Seal on the Cold Tap
