Yeah definitely ignore the other guy he knows not of what he speaks. Firstly there is no such thing as a marijuana plant. The plant is Hemp, most probably Cannabis Sativa v. Sativa as that is the variety most grown commercially for food, oil and fibre. There is NO difference botanically and legally between hemp and Cannabis in fact cannabis is merely the Latin name for hemp with three varieties C. Sativa v. Sativa, C. Sativa v. Indica and C. Sativa v. Ruderalis. there are also many hybrids grown for other purposes ;). If you are in the UK the seeds are perfectly legal ... until you attempt to germinate (sprout) or grow them into plants, at which point they become a Class B prohibited substance with the attendant consequences. Sprouting the seeds would probably be held to be an attempt to cultivate a Class B drug. Good luck with convincing a judge otherwise.

Can somebody please say if you have to cook these first to make them sterile? Have heard you need to do this if whole? Thank you
