These are great for my pigeons. I’d say they are probably the largest bird that can get use out of them—any larger and I think the ledge would be too small for perching. I used to use these for pet rats & they also loved them. I do wish they weren’t dyed (the color does come off on your fingertips) but since the birds aren’t chewing on them, it’s no big deal. They are easy to put in the cage, though I did buy larger washers because of the wide bar spacing of my cage. Not sure how much the ledges are doing to file down my birds’ nails, but I’m glad they like them!

I've purchased this item from Amazon in the past. Something told me to purchase more than what I needed this time because last, there was significant damage to the product, when they arrived. I fully expected that that was a fluke, and this time, more care would be taken in shipping these lava ledges, as they are breakable. Unfortunately I was wrong. As seen in the photo I've attached, one came broken in half. There was no effort made to insult our secure these lava ledges in the brown paper Amazon bag that they came in. Last time I purchased these, all 4 came in damaged. This truly is a handling mistake by Amazon. They should be protected like any other breakable item. However, my review and will be about the actual product itself. I have these for 3 rat cages. In particular, my 3 juvenile females don't yet make use of other items placed in their cage that will keep their nails and teeth from being too sharp/ long. The ledges were really great for my 2 adult females though, they've chewed the ledges down to stumps, so I got these for the babies in hopes it'll help with their little claws. Of all the similar products available on Amazon, these are made the best and the sturdiest. They're also a great size for larger rats so they won't accidently fall trying to jump onto something that's too short. These attach well to the bars of the cage and have metal screws/ washers, as opposed to other brands which use plastic. They last a really long time too. I've deducted a star only because of the poor handling of this product. Otherwise, great item for rats and other pet rodents.

Bigger than expected, and the rats seem to like using it as a perch, and sometimes as a gnawing/chew. It seems to keep their nails down a bit. GREAT VALUE @ $13. I saw them as much as $24 on other sites. I noticed someone complained about the quality, I have not found there were any concerns, seems to be the correct brand and quality Id expect.
