1907 Publication on Various Types of Pumps
This book is a reprint from a book published in 1907 by Paul Hasluck. It has 12 chapters: Suction Pumps and Lift Pumps, Making Simple Suction Pumps, Pump Cup Leathers, Pump Valves, Ram or Plunger Pumps, Making Bucket and Plunger Pumps, Construction of Plumber's Force Pump, Wooden Pumps, Small Pumps for Special Purposes, Centrifugal Pumps, Airlift/Mammoth and Pusometer, Hydraulic Rams. It is an interesting look at pumps over 100 years ago.

Professional information, but for the technology of a century ago - useful for OFF-GRID life today?
The writer (about 1907) was soundly knowledgeable. The book is full of facts for the mechanical technician of that era. Electrical and other more recent technology is absent, of course. The reproduction of the book in 2022 is not without typographical/editing errors, but is not thereby badly impaired. Reading it with intelligence and thought, and an O-level knowledge of physics, today's well-equipped craftsman could make many of the devices described, but experience shows such devices are not obtainable today via Amazon. Pity. The book actually describes the kind of ram pump I cannot find on Amazon. Perhaps elsewhere? If you know a bit already, buy this book, and read it thoughtfully your understanding of pumps and your ability to set up conditions for sustainable life in our planet's endangered future will increase. A useful book, especially if you want to MAKE a ram pump (works without using any external power) but 'Water Pumping Devices' by Fraenkel may be more useful today. Eric Franklin

... purchased the kindle version and find the content really good. But unfortunately it is not easy to navigate
I have purchased the kindle version and find the content really good. But unfortunately it is not easy to navigate. My main gripe is that the diagrams are almost impossible to see on my Kindle. They are very small and the lines and key points are faint. Perhaps they would be more easily seen on a Paper White kindle but I doubt it would make very much difference. Also, the key to diagram parts are on following pages which makes interpreting the diagram cumbersome. I expect the book version would be very good.
