This is a lovely book. I really hated to put it down but had to do other things.
It is a great read about an actor who has given me a slew of laughs. The facts are not always clear-like the ages of the Chaplin boys at various times. The grammar has rare mistakes. But so what! It was a great storytold by a masterful story teller!

highly recommend this book
I haven't read any other Chaplin books, so don't have anything to compare, that aside I felt this book was well written and I was fascinated by his life story, highly recommend this book.

Charlie Chaplin's own story
Having recently attended the production of "Chaplin" on Broadway in NYC I was intrigued by Charlie Chaplin's life story. The book filled in the details of his early life until his success in the silent film era. Most interesting was his transition from serious acting to a comedic actor. I highly recommend this book if you are interested in how a small lad living on the streets of London could become a hugh American movie success using his own ingenuity! I wish he had continued to tell his story of his struggles during the war and his exile from the US.

A candid and very interesting story
It was a very interesting story, “from rags to riches” literally. But I especially liked Chaplin’s candor, and seeming honesty in assessment of both himself and others. Well worth reading!

A lot of editing issues, decent read.
I grew up loving Charlie Chaplin. I have always been fascinated with his life. I was excited to dive into this book and get to know the real Charlie. I would have given this book more stars if it wasn't for the lack of editing. Their was a lot of mispelled words, missing punctuation, and weird sentences. However if you ignore these issues and read the content, it was good. It made me feel for the man and what he endured growing up. If you want to read this book just keep an open mind and look past the editing flaws.

A Delightful Tall Tale From A Wonderful Little Hobo
Charlie Chaplin was the greatest of his time. Maybe even of this present time. The tale he tells is ... umm ... "enhanced" through his incredibly wonderful imagination. The problem with the Kindle version is very very poor formatting, resulting in a stumbling reading ... a little like his character's odd little walk.I've notified Amazon - knowing they are very strong on proper Kindling. So, hopefully, the problem will be resolved.

In his "own words"
Wonderful, if not necessarily accurately portrayed, early memoir of the great silent movie star. Many say this was ghost written and most likely they're correct, however, this is a fun quick read that gives an early insight to Mr Chaplin and his beginnings in the movie world.Certainly worth a read and then read his autobiography afterwards for a more accurate and poetic account of the great man's life.

Great book and great story.
It’s very interesting to get to know the facts that shaped Charlie Chaplin as an artist, as an incredible and talented artist, and as a human being. You sense his hubleness in very single line. Quite a compelling story.
